Wild

I’m just leaving Valor Ink to grab Bristle and I some dinner when my phone rings. It’s Savage, and my heart starts to race. I know that he’s the one watching the Pussy Parlor and Bristle tonight.

“Is she okay?” I answer the phone, already running across the parking lot to my bike.

“There’s some couple here. They keep trying to sneak down the hallway toward your girl and they’re not from town.”

“I’m on my way. Keep them away from my girl.”

He grunts and hangs up a second later, and I know that he’s probably calling Bullet to let him know that we might have trouble, and to get a few guys over to the Pussy Parlor.

I speed the whole way to the strip club and skid on the gravel as I come to a stop. I’m not even sure that I grab my keys or turn the bike off before I’m running inside.

I spot Savage right away and he nods toward the couple who are sitting at a table by the back hallway, their eyes turned in that direction instead of toward the stage.

I watch in horror as Bristle comes out of her office, her head down as she shuffles some papers in her hand. The couple seems to spot her too because they both start to shift in their seats, and as she gets closer to them, they both stand and head toward her.

Savage and I are moving in the next instant and I spot Junk and Knight, both MC members, headed our way from the back exit.

Bristle looks up, her eyes locking on the couple and I see her freeze as she starts to take a look around. Her eyes meet mine and I can see the fear and worry.

My blood starts to boil, and I shove some guy out of my way as I rush to her side. The guy has his hand wrapped around her arm and I watch as Bristle tries to pull away from him.

When his fingers just tighten more, I know that he just signed his own death warrant.

Savage blocks the hallway from view as I walk right up to the couple and punch the guy in the face. He hits the floor with a thud and the woman he was with gasps, trying to back up. Too bad for her, Ice and Knight are standing there.

Knight wraps his arm around her neck until she loses consciousness and I nod as he throws her over his shoulder. Ice and Savage grab the guy and they head for the back door. When it opens, I see Bullet and Shotgun waiting there to help them.

The whole event reminds me of how I helped Ice and his girl out a few weeks ago. She was being threatened by some bad guys but I took care of them with Savage. I had joked that Ice owed me.

“I guess this makes us even,” I tell him and Ice gives me a deadly smile as he helps the others drag the unconscious couple out.

I want to go with them and help them deal with the people who had my girl so afraid, but I know that she needs me more than they do. They can handle two wannabe kidnappers.

“I’ve got you,” I tell her as I wrap her up in my arms.

She’s trembling, her body shaking against mine and I grit my teeth. I hate seeing my brave girl like this.

“We’re going to take care of them. You never need to be afraid of them again. You don’t need to be afraid of anything with me around. I’ll always keep you safe.”

I keep telling her soothing words, trying to calm her as we stand in the back hallway. She’s clinging to me and I know that I need to get her out of here and help her relax.

I shove the papers back into her office and grab her things before I lead her out to my bike. I make her ride in front of me so that I can make sure that she’s steady on the bike before I drive us home.

I carry her inside and she wraps around me, clinging to me. She’s stopped shivering and I take that as a good sign as I lay her down on the bed and spread out next to her.

“Are you okay?” I ask her, brushing some of her hair away from her face.

“I’m alright. Thank you, for stopping them.”

She still seems a little unsteady but she’s starting to look less pale now.

“What did they say to you when they came into the hallway?” I ask her and she looks away.

“Bristle,” I warn her, a slight edge to my voice.
