Screw that. She knew where this was going. He was jealous. Yet, he had no right.

"Um, Evan and I ended our relationship long ago. Not that it's any of your business."

"Did you love him?" he whispered

"Does it matter?"

His eyes darkened to an impossible green. It had been the wrong thing to say. He stalked forward until he was right in front of her.

"Yes, it matters. You seemed happy with him. Meanwhile, I was in hell," he bit out with force.

Heat flushed over her body hard and fast. She had to laugh. That’s how ridiculous it was. "Yes, Cam. You were really miserable, escorting around every supermodel and actress on her fifteen minutes of fame. It was especially beautiful and awesome to read, or watch on TV, while I changed dirty diapers or spent sleepless nights soothing our crying baby. How did you ever make it through that?"

She wasn't making things better, buthe had some fucking nerve.

He closed his eyes briefly and took a breath. "I would have been there all along. You have to know that…" His voice trailed off in the end.

He was being honest. It didn’t change what she went through. "I know, but unfortunately it doesn't change those times, and you have no right to question who I saw then, because you were doing your own thing. We were not together. It's unfair of you to do that."

He came closer. "I may not have a right, but I'll ask anyway. Because, yeah, I dated those other women, but none of them meant a thing. Every one of them was a stand-in for you. When I held them, when I kissed them, when I fucked them…it was you I saw, your face, your lips, your body—" Cam’s eyes widened and he clamped his lips together like he could take the words back. “Fuck it all.”

He kissed her again and this time it was deeper, more charged. His lips were slow this time and she melted into him. No one ever kissed her the way Cam did. From their first kiss, he’d made her insides twist, filling her with the need to wrap herself around him. She’d looked and tried to erase those memories of him. She never could.

Her arms went around him despite the screaming in her conscience. She kneaded the muscles in his back and gave in to the kiss, caressing his tongue with flashes of hers.

When they broke for air, the words flew from her lips, "God, I missed your mouth." She pulled him back to her again, but he suddenly jumped out of her reach.

Her thoughts were fuzzy. She frowned. Had she come on too strong? He wasn’t even looking her in the eye, but to the side. She followed the direction of his gaze. Bron stood there, watching them with widened eyes.

Adri’s heart threatened to sledgehammer out of her chest. Their shit had hit the fan and spread all over the place.

She looked at Cam, not knowing what to say, and the look of absolute panic in his eyes indicated he’d be no help. She needed to say something, fast.

"Princesa, I didn't know you were up," she managed to croak out.

"I heard loud talking and I thought you guys were fighting again but when I opened the door you were not fighting…"

A new kind of heat crept up Adrianna’s neck and flooded her face. Time for the earth to swallow her whole. There was some relief: Bronwyn didn't hear the conversation between her and Cam, but how was she going to explain what she saw?

"No, we were not fighting." She smiled and then looked back at Cam, who stood there like a frozen statue with cartoon wide eyes.

Thankfully, he caught her meaning and jumped in the conversation.

"No, no fighting here. We were just…"

"Making out." Bron finished for him and turned around to go back to the bedroom.

Adrianna followed open mouthed with Cam trailing behind her. Bronwyn went into the bathroom and closed the door.

Adrianna turned to Cam and whispered, "Oh my God. What are we going to say to her?"

He raised his hands as if not knowing what to say. "Let's tell her we're dating."

"What? Are you crazy? We can't tell her a lie to cover ourselves. How would we get out of it later?"

"What do you suggest then, Adrianna? Your parents can't keep their hands off each other and were halfway to hooking up. Does that sound better to you?"

If she weren’t so worried about Bron, she would swear at him until the green fell off his eyes. "Just shut up." She dug her fingers into her hair. "What are we going to do?"

"I thought you wanted me to shut up?"

She crossed her arms and blasted him with a look, "Seriously?"

Anything else she thought of saying was interrupted by the sound of the sink water running. The door opened and Bron walked out. “Mom, I’m hungry.”

"What would you like to eat? We can order whatever you want, or do you want to go out to eat? Your choice, anything you want." Though he sounded desperate and pathetic, Adrianna couldn't even fault Cam for trying so hard.

But their daughter shook her head. "I want chicken and rice and beans."

Adrianna exhaled the breath she didn’t know she was holding and laughed at the look on Cam's face. "It’s her Dominican side. What can I say? I think we could manage that. You both can help me. We’ll talk while we make the food."
