“I knew you still loved her,” Cassie quickly replies. “Every time we were together.”

“Then why did you keep coming back for more?”

I knew Cassie was as lonely as the best of us, but she kept the sheets warm when I needed her to, and she stopped me from aching in a way only a woman could prevent. I never invested emotions, and I never lied to her naive little heart, but she kept coming back. Sometimes night after night.

Sebastian always called her bad news, and Natalia just echoed.

When Natalia mentioned my hate of her, something in me throbbed because, while I knew what I felt, I always thought Natalia would be oblivious to the fact. Having her use it as a way to make a point changed something. If she knew I hated her as much as I truly did, then she took power from me.

If this was something she already knew, I want her to know the very depth of my hate and exactly how much hate and love feel like the same emotion.

I narrow my gaze on my best friend. “Find her.”

I know she can’t go far, but I wouldn’t put anything past Natalia Abernathy anymore.
