He had no qualms about it.

“Does that mean your dick smells like coconut?” I asked, laughing.

“I don’t exactly smell my dick, Savannah,” he answered, with a grin.

“I mean...if you didn’t want us to go slow, I could figure this out...”

Ryan sobered quickly then. “No secrets, Savannah.”

Sighing, resigning to my own sobering, I tipped my head to the side. “Fine. I was just thinking that you grew up so well and I... Well, I didn’t. It’s true when they say men age well.”

“Oh, Savannah.” Ryan chuckled lightly, shaking his head minutely. “Ohhhh, Savannah.” He took both of my hands and pulled me flush to him once again. I was realizing I really liked being this close to him.

I’d like to be closer...

“You grew up so well.” Ryan dropped his mouth to my ear. “So, so well.” The low hush of his voice, the breathes that puffed from his lips and landed on my ear, sent chills of pleasure up my spine.

Then he was kissing my shoulder again and...

Gasping, I pushed him away.

But oh, I was also laughing.

“Did you just give me a hickey?!” I turned to face the mirror, tugging at the material at my shoulder to see.

Sure enough, a red bruise was forming.

“Ryan Madden.”

This time when he pulled me back into his chest, when his hard cock pressed against my back, I had no doubts, no qualms, no second thoughts when he spoke. Even if the words did scare me a little. “I love you, Savannah. Not whatever version of you that you think you should be. You. And I have since the day I met you. You can ask my mom. And yes, I marked you. It will fade, but my love won’t.”

“I can’t cut your hair if I’m crying,” I mumbled, bringing my fingers to my cheeks to dash off the tear drops that fell from my eyes.

“Then don’t cry. Not because I love you. Because I piss you off sometimes? Sure. Because you’re holding a baby who has your nose but my hair? I’ll probably be crying too. But not because you’re my person. You’re my number one, Savvy. Always have been. Always will be.”

Well, that just made it worse. “Ryan!” I groaned, rolling my eyes up toward the ceiling and trying to will the tears to drain back where they came from.

When he hugged me, turning me back toward him, I buried my face in his chest. The tears slowed and I breathed him in.

I just couldn’t believe the turn of events these past few days had brought. Had you told me six months ago this was where I would be, with my best friend telling me that he loved me, I’d have laughed in your face.

But to know that he returned my feelings...

“I’ve loved you since I was nine years old,” I whispered into his chest. His arms tightened around me at the news. “I was terrified I was too young for you to hang out with when you told me you were almost eleven. More and more, little by little, you became my person, too.” I forced myself to look up at him. “I just... That day... My head...”

He nodded. “I know, Sav. Just like I know your mother wasn’t much help in that department. But trust me what I say—what I say is the truth. You will never have to doubt words I say or actions I take.”

“I shouldn’t have pushed you away.”

“I should have pulled you back. There’s no use with the should haves. But I also think that we’re older and wiser now.”

“Well, not that old and wise.”

His grin was crooked as he nodded. “Truth. We’ve got some time still to make more mistakes and figure things out. But maybe, we’ll do them together. More than we have.”

“I like that,” I answered quietly.

“Me too.”
