We get to the hotel which is just as luxurious as the one we live in back in Florida. Kingston told me this is one of his. It’s definitely more opulent but guess you have to be to keep up in the Big Apple.

We’re escorted by a concierge up to our room and given a tour to make sure everything is up to King’s standard.

“I need to call Uncle Dante, but how about we go out to eat,” he says and I shake my head.

“I think I’d rather stay in, better safe than sorry,” I admit.

“Okay, we will go out before the fight,” he steps away to call his uncle.

“Tristan, do you want to call down and order? I mean it’s only a little bit after lunch, so just order some snacks or something. We will have a big dinner,” I say.

“Of course,” he nods.

“Oh, and if I make a list, can you ask them for it? I want to make dinner,” I tell him and he nods. I write down a few things and he grins. Some part of it will be Kingston using that grill out on the deck even though it’s cold, but I don’t care. They have heat lamps out there and it’s covered, like a greenhouse. The view is beautiful.

“He says weigh-in and press tomorrow afternoon,” Kingston joins me at the window.

“That’s good.”

“Aiden is joining us for breakfast. But right now, I need to go see if those gloves work. I saw Tristan ordering food, so I’ll be back in an hour,” he says.

“I want to make a big dinner. I ordered enough for everyone, even the kids, and Viktor and Tana and their kids. But you will have to use that grill,” I tell him and he hugs me.

“You’re the best,” he kisses my head before turning to call for Caleb.

“Caleb, Thorn, let’s go,” and they head down to the gym, Holden following.

I join Tristan and Remo in the living room as Remo channel surfs for something to watch.

“How long have you been having issues?” I ask Don.

“I don’t know. Couples drift apart and we do that from time to time, but we always figured it out.”

“Why do you think she went for Lane?” Tristan asks.

“He’s rich. I hate to say that, but he has more than me. Embry has always been jealous of Kingston and Tana, they are successful. Tana runs some of Viktor’s businesses and is the head of various charities. People love her. Kingston has won titles, gives back to others, everyone that meets him loves him. He cares for his family, just like Tana does. Embry has always been in the shadows. When King first took Lane in, he stayed with us until Kingston could get his house ready. I thought she was just being nice. She can be nice when she wants to be. Maybe I should have looked harder. Lane can be a nice guy when he wants to be, but he’s jealous of Kingston and how people are drawn to him. If Lane wasn’t such a dick, people would give a shit about him,” Remo huffs out a breath.

“I just don’t get why she would play nice and then defend him, after all he’s done,” I shake my head.

“Only she knows. In her way this is a way to stick it to her brother, to show him that sibling rivalry exists, that she’s not the sweet sister he thought. Her way of showing him that he doesn’t mean anything to her, because if he did, she would have left Lane alone when we said he was bad news,” Remo shrugs.

“We were blinded by all of this,” Tristan points out.

“I still want to believe that she will come around,” I state.

“I don’t think so. She’s always been a rule breaker, she’s just good at hiding it. I only know since we’ve been together for so long. I married her because she thought she was pregnant, the honorable thing to do, but I loved her so not really a hardship. I would never have imagined that my children weren’t mine. That’s what hurts the most, and it hurts them and their biological father. Another man raising his kids? That will have to hurt when we figure out who he is,” Remo settles on a show and sets the remote down, “I need a beer.”

“Same,” Tristan agrees.

“We can order something from room service, if you do can you order me some tea? Two pots?” I ask.

“Throat hurting?” Remo asks, with a look of concern.

“Not as bad as the last few days. I probably should stick to whispering,” I smile at him.

“Good call,” he grins, though he does study me with concern but I wave it off.
