Morning comes too fast. Weigh-ins are this morning. Hayes is working with the Metro Police, but they’ve been told not to move in until after the fight.

“Morning,” King says, rolling out of bed.

“Morning,” I kiss him before getting in the shower in which he joins me.

“Saves water,” he smirks.

“Yeah, whatever. We don’t have time for that,” I state.

“Maybe later,” he says, before jumping out to let me finish.

After we’re dressed we meet the others downstairs for breakfast and then we head to one of the ballrooms for weigh-in.

“He will be okay,” Thorn says as we wait outside. I didn’t want to go in, it would only make things worse. I’m starting to think I should just leave. I caused all of this and I feel like shit. I should have said no. Thorn and I can leave, start over, no one would know us or find us. I’m good at that.

“I know, little brother. I’m still worried, though,” I say. Though I’m worried not only for King, but for myself, and even Lane. Being so hateful has to take a toll on the body. As for me, I’m worried that I’m making all of it worse.

“We all are. Just know this will be over soon,” he says and I nod. I wish it would all end. Everything. I wish we were in our old apartment watching movies and eating popcorn. I wish for a lot of things.

“How was your night out?” I change subjects. Guess I should let him have some fun before I decide to rip it away from him.

Stop.

I’m at war with myself. Thorn shouldn’t suffer for my inner turmoil.

“It was fun. We rode the roller coaster and went to the M & M store. We want to go watch the fountains and do the High Roller hopefully before we leave,” he says.

“Sounds like something we could all do as a family,” I suggest.

“Yeah and Piper wants to do the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay,” he says.

“I’m sure we can do it all,” I chuckle.

“Yeah,” he agrees.

There is a TV mounted on the wall and we can see what is going on inside the ballroom. We watch as Kingston steps on the scale and moves to the side and Lane does the same. They stand for their picture and I can tell that Kingston is really trying to hold it together. Lane leans over and whispers something to Kingston and King loses it. All hell breaks loose.

Kingston

I clock him in the jaw so hard I hear a pop. I lunge for him again as I feel arms around me, trying to hold me back. Security moves in as Lane laughs, escorting him out of the room.

“Save it for the ring,” Dante warns.

I stomp off, grabbing Briar’s hand and storm toward the elevator. Everyone is following behind me.

“King, you’re hurting me.” She yanks her arm away from me. Fuck, I’m a dick. The last thing I want to do is hurt her.

“Shit, sorry. I just saw red. I didn’t mean to hurt you,” I reach for her hand and kiss it as the elevator heads to our room.

“What did he say to you?” she asks.

“Nothing,” I lie.

“It was something for you to react that way,” Thorn catches the lie.

“He told me he was going to take you away from me, fuck you, then kill you before killing himself,” I hiss.
