“Thorn, you can pick out the movie tonight,” I say and he pumps his fist in the air.

“Yes!”

“Don’t worry, if he chooses horror, I’ll hold your hand,” Kingston teases.

“Sounds like you guys talk about me,” I say.

“We do. Sorry, not sorry,” he grins.

I smile as we arrive back at his house. Kingston follows me up the stairs to change and I realize I don’t have clothes to change into.

“You can wear a shirt and a pair of my sweats. I think I have small ones around here,” he says and I nod.

He hands me some that he finds and I go into the closet to change. It’s not really a closet, it’s like a large dressing room within a closet. There is a couch in the center where someone can sit and try on shoes or read or whatever. I mean there’s even a TV in here. I guess if you wanted to get away and be alone it would be a good place to hide.

I hang the dress up and change into the clothes he gave me.

I should also note that there are two of these in his room. One on either side, like his and hers.

I lift his shirt and smell it, loving that it smells like him.

I wait for him to change and we go down to the movie room. Thorn is already swiping through the movies. Kingston grabs some beers and hands one to me as he makes some popcorn.

I snuggle up next to him as Get Out starts and soon I’m out. I never finish a movie.

Kingston

She fell asleep, again.

“She does this all the time. Guess it’s just part of our tradition,” Thorn chuckles.

He goes to pick her up but I tell him I got her.

“Thanks for tonight,” he says as he walks up to the room he’s staying in for the night. He can use it anytime he wants.

“Anytime,” I give him a chin lift and carry Briar to my room.

I lay her down on the bed and crawl in behind her, wrapping my arms around her and then pulling the comforter over us, cocooning us in.

I hope she’s okay with this. She feels good in my arms, like she belongs there.

Just makes me want her more, being like this.

I do plan on taking them out this weekend for a bit of fun, and Disney seems like a great place to take her since she’s never been.

Briar deserves some fun after all the years she’s been focused on raising her brother.

I want to give it to her. That’s my last thought as I fall asleep.

When I wake the next morning, I notice Briar’s not in bed. I go downstairs to find coffee already made and I notice Briar swimming laps in the pool.

I pour a cup of coffee and go outside, sitting on the side of the pool, legs in the water.

“Whatcha doing?”

“Wanted to get some laps in. I have to try and stay in shape. Compared to you guys, I’m fat,” she says.

“You are not fat,” I insist.
