“Caleb, Tristan, and I are heading down to the diner to get something to eat. Wanted to know if you wanted to join us. We’d like to get to know Thorn a little better,” he says.
“Yeah, we’ll meet you there. Just need to shower and change. I was coming down to the gym later anyway so this works,” I tell him as Thorn and I head upstairs to do just that.
“See ya there,” he says as I hang up the phone.
“Diner?” Thorn asks.
“Yeah, Caleb, Holden, and Tristan want to get to know you better,” I nod.
“Cool.”
“Meet you downstairs in a few,” I say as I head to my room to shower and change.
I think Holden is crushing on Briar. I’m not sure, but I’ve seen him watching her.
I mean, most guys stare at her. It’s just a feeling I have.
Thorn is waiting for me when I finally get done dressing. I grab my keys and we head out the door. The guys are waiting for us when we pull up. I go to say hi when I hear their conversation.
“Is this where Thorn’s sister works?” Tristan asks and Holden nods.
“Do you have a crush on her?” Caleb asks.
“What? No! She’s into King,” Holden protests.
“Doesn’t mean you can’t like her,” Caleb says.
“Leave it, man,” Holden hisses and I guess I was right.
“All right, chill,” Caleb says and then they notice us.
“Your sister works here?” Tristan asks for clarification.
Thorn nods, “Yeah she tries to work all the time. She thinks I need everything since she grew up with nothing.”
“Shows she cares,” Tristan says and Thorn nods.
“Hey, Marge, can we sit in Briar’s section?” Thorn asks the older woman. I’ve been in here a few times and have come to know Jerry and Marge. I just wonder how I’ve never noticed Briar until now. Guess I never sat in her section or she wasn’t working at the time.
“Didn’t know Briar had a fan base,” the older woman teases, “but yeah, take your pick.” She gestures to the section where I first sat when I met her.
“Oh yeah, a whole cheerleading squad,” Caleb smiles at the older woman. He’s such a flirt.
“I’ll send her over,” Marge says as we pick a booth and take a seat.
Wonder if she will be happy to see me.
Holden
I had my reasons to go to the diner. Ok, a reason and that was her. I know it’s creepy of me, but I can’t help it. I want to know her. I only called King because I knew he would find out that we went. Not that he would be mad but he would have said something about not calling. I kind of do want to get to know Thorn more as well. If I ever had a chance with his sister we would have to play nice, she really loves her little brother. I was embarrassed that King overheard our conversation. I don’t want him to know I’m crushing on her. I don’t want him to think I’m trying to step on his toes.
Thorn leads us to the back and slides into a huge booth. I’m glad it’s huge because all of us are as well and we need the space. I pick up the menu just as she appears, and even in her little waitress uniform, she’s still sexy.
Briar
“You have a table,” Marge says with a grin.
“Okay,” I fix my apron and smooth my hair down.
