“A locket?”

“Yeah, I want to put pictures in it. One with me and her and the other side with our grandma,” he says, and I love that idea.

“She will love it,” I say as he heads over to the case with the lockets. He looks for a few moments and then looks my way.

“Miss? Can you add whatever he wants to my bill?” I ask the saleswoman and she just nods, handing me a bag with my purchases.

A few minutes later, I’m paying and we are walking the mall again. We round a corner and Thorn stops in his tracks, his eyes falling to a window with a coat, a beautiful knee length coat in white.

“I want to get that for her,” he says and I nod, because he should.

“I think she will like it,” I state.

“Me too,” he says as I motion for the salesperson to grab the coat.

“Wrapped up, please. And then have it sent over to the Selada Hotel, penthouse,” I tell the man and he nods as I hand over my card. I need to get Thorn a few gifts as well, so I tell him he can go wander around, stuffing some cash in his hands in case he sees something he wants to get.

He takes off and I go in the other direction, knowing the first store I want to hit up: the sports store. I get him a pair of new gloves to train with and some new shorts. I go to the hat store next and get him a few hats with his favorite team logo on it. It’s not much but I’m sure he will like them. I walk around a few more stores, getting him some sweaters and shirts and grabbing Briar some jeans and cardigan sweaters she loves so much.

Last stop, I get Thorn a nice watch and an iPhone. I should get Briar one too, both of them have old phones. I hope that Thorn enjoys the things I’ve gotten him. It’s been so long since I’ve bought gifts for anyone other than family, and I let my mother do that shopping for me and just put my name on the tag.

I stop at the florist and order flowers to be delivered to the hotel and since I don’t know what she likes I order a variety of roses, daisies, lilies, and orchids. I text Daniel to let him know so he can put them in the master bedroom. They also have gift baskets with bath bombs and body oil in them so I order a couple of those as well. She loves her baths.

I wander around the mall and pass another jewelry store. I know I looked at engagement rings at the other one, but nothing really caught my eye. I know I want to propose, to take care of her for the rest of her life.

“Can I help you, sir?” A man asks.

“I’m looking for an engagement ring,” I murmur.

“Oh yes, what did you have in mind?” he asks and I shrug.

“I don’t know. I guess I’ll know when I see it. What do you suggest?” I ask him as he leads me over to a case in the corner and tells me to take a seat.

“We have this trillion cut diamond, and you can see there are smaller diamonds on the side, it’s white gold,” he says as he holds it out for me to inspect and it’s the one, I know that right away.

“It’s beautiful. I’ll take it,” I say as I hand it back and pull out my credit card.

“Would you like it wrapped?” he asks.

“No, I’ll just put it in my pocket,” I smile as he takes my card, ringing me up.

“Of course, here you go,” he hands me the box and my card and smiles at me.

“Good luck and Merry Christmas,” he says as walk out and I just wave. I think it will be a very Merry Christmas.
