“Close your mouth, sweetie. We don’t want flies to get in,” I tease before hopping out and running to open her door. She gives me a small glare before taking my hand.

The house is even bigger on the inside. It’s even bigger than Kingston’s house. I’ve never imagined living in a place this big, I was always worried about keeping a one bedroom apartment. Does his mom live here or is this for show?

“You lived here?” I ask him.

“I did,” he nods. “If you’re lucky, maybe I’ll show you my childhood bedroom and we can do some heavy petting.”

I can only blush and giggle.

“It’s huge. The house,” I reply.

“I know. It’s a little much for her since she’s the only one who lives here and her staff.”

“Your dad?” He never talks about his dad. Though we haven’t been together that long.

“Dead. He was a good man and I miss him every day. My mom didn’t want to leave, this house is her comfort,” he says. I get it.

“Everyone on their best behavior,” I warn as a butler or something opens the door for us..

He was right, his mom goes all out. There are trees in the foyer, decorated in gold and white twinkling lights. There are smaller trees throughout the house, lights everywhere, Christmas music on blast. It’s like a winter wonderland of joy or something. I mean that’s all I feel is joy being here. Waiters in black ties pass out little hors d’oeuvres and champagne, people are dancing. I’ve never been to a party, let alone one like this, even Thorn is starting to look nervous. To these people, we’re trailer trash.

“Don’t worry about others,” Kingston grabs two glasses from a tray and hands me one.

“Go and mingle,” I urge the others. Thorn hesitates for only a second before disappearing into the crowd.

I stick to Kingston’s side as we meander through each room, talking to people along the way. Most are his mom’s friends, and some are from the fighting circuit. Finally, Embry finds us.

“You’re here,” she hugs me.

“Your dress is amazing, it really brings out your eyes,” I gush.

“Thank you. What did he say about your dress?” She grins at her brother.

“Something about men looking at me and he would have to keep an eye on me,” I snort and he just glares at me, causing his sister to laugh.

“Sounds just like him,” she pats his arm as he moves off to talk to someone.

“Tana and Viktor are dancing. I’m waiting on my husband to bring me some wine,” she giggles.

“I could get lost in here. I hope he doesn’t,” I say as I look around the room looking for Kingston.

“Remo is my high school sweetheart. Well more like junior high. He’s spent a lot of time here,” she smiles. “His family house is bigger than this one.” I wonder how someone can live in such a huge house.

“Aww, that’s such a sweet story and you guys do look cute together,” I gush.

“Well thank you. You and my brother are cute together. Good to see someone is keeping him in line,” she says.

“I try, but he can be a handful,” I snicker.

“Aren’t all men?” We laugh hysterically as Remo appears at Embry’s side with her wine.

“What’s so funny?” He narrows his eyes at us.

“Men,” we say in unison.

“Women,” he holds his hands up in frustration and walks away, rolling his eyes.
