CHAPTERTEN

Shane

Snow seems lighter when she joins me in the pantry, organizing groceries by day and meal. I like to stay organized, and it’s easier when working with the staff I have strictly for events such as the show. Although, this is more of a circus.

“Wow, this is tidy,” she says, taking in all that I’ve done while she was in therapy and London was at the gym. I left breakfast out for her and Ariel.

“I like to stay busy.” I wink, and she blushes. I want to touch her, but I don’t think she’s ready.

“Do you think London is ready for the show?”

“I think he just has to show up,” I reply, lifting a shoulder. “He has it easy.”

“Do you think he’ll find someone?” Her voice is small when she asks the question.

I shift to face her and notice how sad she appears. I’ve asked the same question in my head.

“Sweetheart, come here.” I hold out my arms, and she steps into them. I hug her tight. “Do you want him to find love?”

“I don’t know how to answer that.”

“Truthfully.”

“I’m falling for him . . . and you.”

Music to my ears. “But?”

“Is it wrong to like two people?”

“No, because I’m feeling the same,” I admit.

“You are?” she murmurs, meeting my gaze.

“Oh, yeah.”

“You don’t care what people will think?”

“Nope.” I shake my head with a smirk. “Don’t care.”

“What about London?”

“Guess we’ll have to find out where his head is at. Want to help with that?”

“Yeah. What do you have in mind?”

“Nice dinner, hot tub.”

“And show him?” Her eyes are searching, like she’s unsure how I’ll answer.

“Are you ready for that?” I ask just to make sure.

“I think so.” She stares at me, her violet eyes shining.

“We won’t go too far. But just to show him that we care about him.”

“Okay.” She seems to be relieved. “What about supplies?”

“We can go tomorrow. I have lamb thawing. Let’s get the grill going and then peel some potatoes.”
