“They called them invisibility nets. It was an alien technology they used and expanded on from the crash long ago,” he answered softly, before cle

aring his throat.

He stood tall then, towering several feet above me and had I not known him, I would have been afraid. An eight-foot-tall mass of muscles and power that could break me in half with a single strike. A super soldier meant to tame the world.

“Stop hiding, Saleos,” Axel growled, and his brother laughed once more, the sound eerie enough to make my blood run cold.

“And make this far less fun?” Saleos answered, his breath against the right side of my throat this time.

The rocks crunched and suddenly Axel tossed me off to the side. I flew through the air, the feeling of being weightless terrifying. I landed hard on my feet a good ten feet away and crouched low to the ground in order to stabilize myself. My heart beat loud in my chest and I breathed hard, trying to quell the fear within me. I had to stay strong, for Axel and me. So we could both survive and get the hell out of here before the bombs came.

Axel braced himself, using his arms to shield his face, and then an invisible force crashed into him. His heels dug into the ground and despite all the strength I knew he was capable of, he was driven back a solid two feet. He wasn’t going to be beaten though, and his arms wound around the glimmer pulse and his knee slammed into where I imagined Saleos’ stomach would have been. I heard a loud grunt and I watch as Axel’s hands slid downward, searching before the glimmering field spun away from him.

For a second though, the invisibility net had wavered, and I had seen the angry face of his brother.

I watched, searching for Saleos, finding him and losing him, despite the net’s invisible capabilities. I stayed crouched low, crawling backwards slowly, until I reached the walls of the caves behind me. Until Saleos was fully visible, I wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to surprise me with an attack from behind. He was dangerous enough on his own, let alone when I couldn’t see him coming.

Axel roared, rushing forward and tackling the glittering force. Saleos flickered into vision once more as Axel’s hands curled around something. He tore his hands away, his fist still tightly shut around what looked like a small metal cartridge and suddenly, there was his brother.

Saleos roared with anger and his skin pulsed deep burgundy red, angry and lined with blood vessels. His eyes were bright red with fire. He stood breathing heavily, stark naked, his cock as hard as a rock between his legs.

After a moment he lifted his head and began to laugh. I felt uneasy.

He was fucking insane. Completely and utterly insane.

“So, brother, we meet again,” he began.

“What the fuck do you want, Saleos?” Axel asked, his voice brimming with anger and frustration. He was focused.

Saleos’ eyes slowly meandered to where I was crouched by the caves. His gaze flickered up and down my body, undressing me as I stood before him. Only, he cocked his head to the side and sniffed the air. He smirked.

“Tested the goods already, brother? I can smell your seed all over her. She reeks of sex,” Saleos said. I glared in his direction.

Axel tensed, his muscles straining as he waited. Saleos watched him carefully, smirking gleefully.

“Is her wet cunt tight, brother? Does it surround your cock and milk you like a good slut should? Does she scream your name when you slam her against the wall and use her for everything she’s worth?” Saleos continued. I closed my eyes. He must have seen us in the caves. I suddenly began to feel sick. Nausea and bile rose up in my throat.

Axel didn’t answer. I could feel his anger on the wind. He wasn’t the only one though. Every breath I took felt tense and I couldn’t stop the rising panic from welling up inside me.

“I can’t wait to fuck that same little cunt when I take her for myself. I bet she’ll be just as wet for my alien cock as she was for yours,” Saleos added next and Axel roared with fury. He tore forward, racing for Saleos while his brother just laughed in amusement.

Axel slammed into him and something clicked.

I moved. I knew what that meant. I sprinted back into the cave and kept running, until I turned a corner. I squatted down, covering my head and even as far as I had run, when the first explosion tore around us, I felt the air thin. I covered my mouth, holding my breath as the second and third pulses followed. The ground trembled beneath my feet and I tried to stop myself from screaming. My skin grew tight, the temperature around me rising, but when it finally ended, I breathed a sigh of relief.

I was still intact.

Slowly, I made my way back toward the exit, hearing the sickening sounds of skin smacking skin. Axel kicked Saleos hard and he flew back, smacking into a tree behind him. Saleos fell to the ground and rolled, meeting Axel head on with a punch that he just barely dodged. They fought hard, grunts of fury and pain filling the air.

Axel’s claws were fully elongated, long and sharp. He swiped at Saleos, just landing a scratch across his back as he twisted away.

I reached back, grasping the handle of my gun in my hand. I didn’t pull it out, just set my hand there, trying to decide what to do and how I could help. I chewed my lip, watching as the two super soldiers tore at each other.

I flinched every time Saleos landed a blow on Axel. I cheered silently when Axel tore back at him.

Even then, the two fought with fury, one motivated by revenge, the other wanting to save me and protect me from the dangers of the world.

Two evenly matched genetically engineered aliens. One punch would land and then the other would retaliate and strike back just as quickly. Two animals locked in battle over the right to take me as their own.
