A few weeks later, the Black Ranger reached Nassarc, landing in the middle of the night. Vane’s mark hadn’t progressed even an inch since we’d come back together and Dr. Rackamar had hesitantly informed us that the virus had stopped its course. I was incredibly grateful to hear such good news.

I woke up early and snuck out of Vane’s bed, knowing that the crew wouldn’t be up for some time to come. Vane had given me a short dark blue dress that he’d allowed me to wear and I pulled it on. I made my way down to the cargo hold and found it mostly unguarded. Two guards were dozing on the job and it was ridiculously easy to sneak past them.

The electrical panel hadn’t been modified since last time and I was able to deactivate the power that kept the cages locked very easily. I didn’t lead the Aberrants out through the ventilation system though. Time was of the essence and I had to get them out as quickly as possible so that meant we were going to travel through the ship.

“Silence is paramount. Don’t make a sound and I’ll get you out of here in one piece,” I whispered. Everyone nodded. Mari grinned in my direction before she made her way to my side.

“You’re a natural born leader, Nina,” she said quietly. “That’s why Earth wanted you gone in the first place. You’re not a follower and rules mean nothing to you. You do what’s right, no matter the cost.”

I stared into those blue eyes of hers and nodded once in understanding.

She might just be right.

“Come. Let’s get you all out of here,” I answered with a smile.

The ship was mostly quiet. I knew the crewmembers who woke up early, so I avoided those areas, as well as the common ones like the mess hall. I choose to climb down the service stairwells and kept to the narrow hallways that weren’t well utilized. In about ten minutes, I had led the rest of the Aberrants to the exit chamber without encountering anyone.

I watched as they streamed out of the ship, taking off into the surrounding woodlands that lined the perimeter of the landing area. Mari was last as she looked back at me, smiling gently as she waved. She didn’t say anything more, but she didn’t need to.

I’d saved them all. I’d done what I had to do in order to free the rest of the humans who were exiled from Earth. I’d saved them from auction on the cold, forsaken planet of Kryoan. Now they had control of their own fates. Now they had a chance to choose their own destiny instead of having it decided for them.

“I hope it was worth it,” a soft, gravelly voice said behind me.

“It was,” I answered. I knew that voice. It was Vane and I turned back to him. He had a stern look on his face, but deep in his gaze was a certain sense of pride.

“You know I’m going to have to punish you for this. A slight against the commander and his crew like this cannot go unanswered,” he murmured quietly, and my pussy clenched in arousal. His dark gaze watched me, and I couldn’t help myself as my thighs trembled slightly at his warning.

“I know, sir,” I answered softly.

He curled his arms around me and pressed his lips against the top of my head in a gentle kiss. He pulled me in close and at once, I knew he wasn’t angry.

“I’m proud of you, Nina. You’ve done what I could not,” he whispered. “You’ve shown me that there’s much more to humans than meets the eye and it’s one of the reasons I love you so much.”

“Is the punishment going to hurt, sir?” I asked anxiously, leaning into his embrace.

“Definitely,” he murmured. “I’m going to mark that pretty little backside with my belt in front of the entire crew. You’re going to answer for the loss of all the profits the sale of your fellow humans would have delivered, again and again, until I’ve decided you’ve learned your lesson.”

His voice was light but saturated with promise.

“I’ll wear your marks with pride, sir,” I whispered.

“I know you will, Nina,” he answered, before he pulled me into a deep, soulful kiss that left me breathless.

I couldn’t wait.

The End
