“Partly. Their Vakarrans were the ones that chose us for the mission. Your sisters sent us off with their blessing. Danika actually threatened us with physical harm to keep you safe along the way,” he said with a smirk.

“Sounds like her,” I laughed softly.

After a long moment, I lifted my head and turned back toward him. The other three had woken and were watching us, but they let their leader speak instead.

“Are they happy? My sisters?” I asked.

“From what I can tell, they certainly are. The Second Battalion treats Alaina like their queen. The Third Battalion and Danika are always together. The two of them look radiant. From what I’ve seen, they are happy. I can see where your strength comes from, meeting you now and knowing your sisters,” he explained.

I wanted to believe every word, but I wasn’t sure. I wouldn’t be sure until I saw my sisters for myself. As much as I wanted to believe that they were alive and well, I had to remember what kind of world we lived in. I had to remember that even though these men had been kind to me thus far, they could be lying, just so that I’d be their willing prisoner until the end.

“Now that we’ve found you, our mission is to return to Atlanta,” he added.

“What about the rest of the humans?” I asked.

“They can remain where they are, or if they want to join the Resistance as well, they can too,” he answered.

“You won’t send anyone to kill them? They will stay safe?”

“Our mission is you, Kaela. We have no interest in the others,” he said.

The conviction in his voice was powerful. Even though I knew I probably shouldn’t, I believed him in that moment. He promised that I could see my sisters again. That they were still alive and unharmed. Despite everything he’d told me, the part that surprised me the most was that each of my sisters had four Vakarran mates. Four men to protect them, to love them.

And now I had four aliens of my own.

I was quiet for a long moment, running my fingers across my thigh when I noticed that certain places seemed to sparkle, almost as though I had glitter on my skin. I rubbed over one spot and the glow didn’t go away.

Weird.

Maybe this was a sign. Maybe I’d lost my mind. Here I was considering that maybe the Vakarrans weren’t so bad after all after years of being taught the opposite. The world was evil. I had to remember that.

“It’s alright,” Valdus whispered, taking my hand into his.

“What does it mean?” I asked hesitantly.

“It means you’re our mate. That you were meant for us,” he said, and I narrowed my eyes, wondering about the meaning of his words.

“I’m not your mate,” I countered.

“You are. And we have an entire journey to prove it to you,” Valdus smirked.

I scoffed. He couldn’t be serious.

Tavik kissed my shoulder softly.

“You’re ours, little human. We’ve claimed you and now, there’s no running from us,” he whispered in my ear. I shivered at the promise in his tone.

I’d prove him wrong. Eventually.

Chapter Six

Kaela

As much as I wanted to escape the grasp of these four Vakarrans, I saw no opportunity to do so. Zane and Valdus watched my every movement like hawks, while Caleb catered to my every need. After a period of time, Tavik removed the plug from my ass, reminding me that he was granting me mercy as he pulled it from my body, achingly slowly. His attentions made my body heat with desire, even though I was sore from being so well used by four Vakarrans. Caleb helped me to dress, and I couldn’t help but sigh with relief as my naked body was finally covered once again.

No longer bare to their eyes, I began to feel more confident and stronger than before. I realized our relationship was tenuous at best, and I needed to remain cautious and assess if their story was actually true. For all I knew, they could be leading me into a trap, one that would condemn the rest of friends to be taken by the Vakarrans, to be enslaved and abused, just like all the rumors and stories told.

For all I knew, my sisters were dead, and I was the last one to be captured and made an example of. The thought was terrifying.
