Itwasaperfect 80-degree morning with the sun shining above and not a cloud in the sky. He was hoping Lexie would join him but wasn’t sure if his offer was appealing enough.

She had invaded his dreams last night and he woke up with the desire to spend the entire day by her side. He got a glimpse of what it was like to have her back in his life over the last few days and he wanted more. He didn’t care if she came back as a friend or something more, he just missed what they once had.

He heard the familiar sound of sandals slapping against the concrete and turned his head toward the stairs. To his surprise and delight, Lexie was descending toward him. She had her eyes on the ground, but as she approached him, she tipped her head up with a slight smile.

“You came,” he said.

She nodded. “What do you have planned?” she asked.

He nodded his head down the beach and turned to walk away. She caught up to him and walked beside him as they trudged together through the sand.

“Thanks for the Advil last night. I haven’t drank like that since college and my old ass definitely needed it this morning.”

He laughed. “No worries. I thought you might.”

They followed the curve of the island and stepped onto fresh sand, undisturbed by any of the island’s current occupants. He stopped and pointed toward a staircase much like the one near the house. She hesitated for a moment before leading them up the small set of stairs. As they approached the top, they walked together in the clearing. The forestry was still behind them, but straight ahead was a clear view of the calm sea waters.

“Wow, this is a great view,” she whispered.

“It is. Come on, there’s more this way.” He motioned his arm out and began to walk across the small patio toward another set of stairs. “The beach ends momentarily, which is why we had to take this little detour,” he said. She followed behind him and they stepped together back onto the sandy beach. There was a small patio elevated slightly over the water with a shed. Nav had arrived early this morning to prepare all the snorkeling gear for them and it was splayed out on a patio table. “I thought maybe you’d like to join me for snorkeling today,” he said as he motioned toward the items on the table. He watched as she danced her hands over the top of the items, barely grazing the plastic.

“Absolutely!” Her familiar smile widened on her tan face.

“There are more in that shed. I just grabbed what I thought might fit us both,” he said as he pointed toward the shed beside him.

Lexie nodded and reached for the purple wetsuit sitting on the table. She rubbed the smooth neoprene between her fingers before grabbing it with both hands and lifting it up. She held it to her chest and looked down to see if it would fit. Satisfied, she opened the back and grabbed the tag to investigate further. “This one should work,” she said.

“I’m not sure they’re necessary, but I figured it might help avoid sunburn.” He shrugged as he reached for the black wetsuit on the table beside where hers was resting. He stuck his legs through and tugged it up and over his chest, letting the top dangle right at his waist as he sorted through the other materials on the table. He watched as Lexie slipped her thin legs through the fabric and yanked it over her breasts, sticking her arms through the holes. She turned her back toward him and asked, “Can you help me?”

“Oh, yeah.” Their skin grazed together as he reached down her back and pulled the zipper up. The wetsuit hugged against her nicely accentuating all her perfect curves.

At that point, Nav felt he’d already won. He had his girl back to himself for the day, and it didn’t matter what came next.
