LIAM

IT’S ONE OF those days most men don’t really think about too often. I mean, guys don’t give a shit about weddings.

Nah, our goals are much simpler. We want to find a partner who will love us, flaws and all, and we want them to be willing to stick around for a long-ass time.

It’s true that I never thought about that before. I didn’t think I’d ever want to be tied down to one person for the rest of my life, but Mo changed all of that. She made me rethink everything I’d ever thought when it came to being with someone in that way. We never stood a chance against fate.

She’s the one who saved me from a life I didn’t realize I hated.

She’s the one who put purpose back into my life, who gave me a reason to get from one day to the next.

And as I stare at my future wife coming up the sand aisleway, I think about those reasons. I think about her laugh, her smile, her humor, her happiness, and I thank my lucky stars I’m the one who gets to have all of them.

They’re mine now.

She and I, we’re a force to be reckoned with. We’re never going to let anything come between us, and it’s one of the reasons we work, one of the reasons we’ll always work.

The officiant starts the ceremony, and I don’t let my eyes stray from her, not to the family who flew down to have this wedding with us or the ocean behind us. We don’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen, no flower girl or ring bearer. All we need is each other—and the dress I want to rip off her body, but that’s not really anything new.

“I do.” I hear her say it, and the realization that we’re already here hits me. When the officiant asks me if I take Margaret to be my wife, a thoughtful smile curves her lips. She has no idea how captivating she is when she smiles at me that way. I give her a grin and say, “Hell yeah I do.”

She laughs, and I don’t wait for any kind of announcement. I kiss her the way I do every day, with every ounce of love I’ve got.

I kiss my motherfucking wife.

“I love you, Mrs. Stokes,” I mumble against her mouth, not wanting to pull away, and she laughs against my lips.

“Oh boy, I love you too.” She shakes her head, the excited light vivid in her eyes under the Caribbean sun. “So, so much.”

Grinning, I take my wife’s hand and lead her away from the ceremony, off to a honeymoon that will be just the beginning, the beginning of a love without an end, the beginning of endless laughs, the beginning of many fights that will end with her mouth on mine, the beginning of everything.

And I can’t fucking wait.

THE END
