Jacob squeezed my hand in his. “Good. You need to get out some, Bailey. Being cooped up in your room all the time is only going to make you feel worse.”

It honestly made me feel a little better because in the comfort of my own room, I could let out how I was really feeling. I didn’t have to put on a front for anyone else.

It was just me and my thoughts. And I could just let them be. Pretending that this wasn’t so bad was what fucking drained me.

“I know,” I whispered instead.

I looked up, feeling someone’s eyes on me. Seth was sitting not too far from us, his phone in his hand. He was by himself, and though he had his phone out, his attention was on me.

My throat closed up with tears as I stared at him.

Jacob followed my gaze, his eyes narrowing on Seth. Seth didn’t even pay him a bit of attention. His eyes never left mine.

“I’m sorry,” Seth mouthed to me.

With that, he got up from the bench and walked away, heading towards the car park. My throat closed up. Tears burned in my eyes, and almost immediately, they ran unchecked down my cheeks.

Jacob obviously hadn’t missed what Seth had done because he immediately pulled me into his arms and held me as I cried.

Seth had apologized.

And that? For some reason, that had fucking hurt more than him leaving me behind when I told him I was pregnant.
