They both had me fucked up.

* * *

I knockedon the Donovan’s front door, even more agitated than when I’d left considering all the time I’d had to stew over it since leaving my house. Right as the door opened, Seth tore into the yard and jumped out of the driver’s seat, his eyes narrowed on me.

“Go inside, Bailey,” he said, his eyes locked on someone behind me.

I turned to look at Bailey. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked exhausted. Her hair was a mess on her head. For a moment, I felt bad for bothering her, but then I remembered the huge fucking secret she was hiding. Then, I didn’t feel so fucking bad anymore.

“Are you fucking knocked up?” I demanded to know, ignoring my little brother.

Bailey’s face paled. Her eyes widened. She tightened her hand on the door handle, her grip so tight that her knuckles were white. Seth wedged himself between us, glaring at me, blocking Bailey from my sight. “Get the fuck away from her,” Seth growled at me.

“Bailey?” I heard Melanie’s boyfriend ask from behind Seth. He wedged himself outside and glared at me, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood next to Seth. “Brayden, what the fuck are you doing here?”

“I’m trying to fucking talk to Bailey,” I sneered at him. God, this guy could be a douchebag. “That a fucking problem?”

Trent took a threatening step towards me. I’d give it to the guy. He had a good fifty pounds on me, and I knew enough about Trent to know he could easily take me in a fight. But I was too pissed to give a fuck.

“You talking about my little sister, fucker?” he hissed at me.

I threw my arms up in the air. “Are you fucking kidding me?!” I exploded. “Just how many secrets is she fucking hiding?!”

“Secrets?!” Seth shouted at me, losing his cool. He shoved a hand against my chest, knocking me back a couple of steps. “Considering you don’t do anything besides run your mouth about yourself, how the fuck are you supposed to know a goddamn thing about her?!” he shouted at me.

I took a threatening step towards Seth, but Bailey placed herself between us. Seth protectively wrapped his arms around her chest, hauling her back against him as he glared at me. The sight of the two of them together made my blood boil.

Because they looked perfect. And I could see it in her eyes that she fucking needed him.

Trent shoved me back a step. “Seth, take Bailey inside,” he ordered, his eyes never leaving mine. When the door was shut behind them, he got in my personal space. I gritted my teeth. “Watch yourself. You’re treading on thin fucking ice with me,” he snarled. “You think you can roll up to my home and spout some bullshit to my fucking little sister? It doesn’t work that way, Brayden. This is her goddamn home. This is her safe space. I won’t have you coming in here and wrecking that for her, you hear me?” he growled. “Whatever she has decided not to tell you is her own fucking choice. Considering I don’t even fucking know about you, I’m guessing she either doesn’t like you that fucking much, or you’ve barely been fucking dating.”

I glared at him, trying to force myself to calm down. “She’s fucking pregnant,” I growled.

Trent shrugged. “So? Not your fucking baby, so she doesn’t owe you a goddamn explanation.”

I threw my hand in the direction of the front door. “It’s his, isn’t it?” I demanded. Trent’s silence was all the answer I fucking needed. I laughed, but it lacked humor. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. Of course, it’s his. Makes fucking sense now.”

Seth fucking got everything.

Trent shrugged. “And? I can guarantee you that you’re nothing more than a fucking distraction to her, Brayden. Her and Seth? That’s some shit you can’t get between.” I clenched my fists at my sides, actually hating my brother at that moment. The one girl in this town that I was actually interested in, and he already had his claws stuck deep inside her.

“He fucked up with her,” I sneered.

Trent shrugged. “So? Doesn’t fucking matter. He’s making up for that shit.” He jabbed his finger into my chest. “Your days are fucking numbered, Brayden. Do you even see how much happier she is when he’s with her?”

“She’s fucking miserable,” I growled at him.

Trent laughed. “And you’re supposed to be a therapist,” he mocked. I glared at him. “Of course, my sister is fucking miserable. And I bet you haven’t picked up on how much she fucking needs him, have you? He destroyed a piece of her, but he’s also the only person that can truly fucking help her.”

I wanted to punch something. “He’ll fuck up again, Trent. And you’re stupid for letting him close to her.”

Trent shook his head at me. “That’s where you’re wrong, Brayden. Because I’m not blinded by jealousy when it comes to them. He’s it for her. I see that. Everyone but you fucking sees it. If you knew what was good for you, you’d stop letting my sister string you along because that’s all she’s doing. I can probably place money on it that Seth and Bailey are upstairs in her bed right now, and he’s cuddling her and holding her together after you just freaked her the fuck out. He’s cleaning up your fuck-up, Brayden.” I clenched my jaw, hating that he was right. I should have known better than to come at Bailey like this, but I’d been so pissed.Trent shook his head. “For someone who supposedly has a degree in psychology, you don’t fucking know much.” He pointed to my car. “Get the fuck off this property, and if you knew what was good for you, you wouldn’t step foot back on it, you hear me? You just broke into my sister’s safe space.”

With that, he stormed back inside the house and slammed the door shut behind him.

I shot a text to Seth as I stormed back to my car.

You do that shit on purpose? -Brayden

The bubbles popped up on the screen almost immediately.

No, dipshit. I thought I locked my fucking phone. By the way, for this shit. You’ve got a lot of fucking apologizing to do to her. You don’t know shit about her or what she’s going through. There’s a reason she never fucking told you, idiot. -Seth

And don’t fucking bother her today, you fucking hear me? She’ll reach out to you when she’s fucking ready and not a goddamn moment sooner. -Seth
