Aldrin and James had another silent conversation as Blake kept his arm around me, his fingers stroking through my hair. “I’d like to help your omegas, Alpha Blake. Give me a few days and I’ll speak to my alpha and set something up. He’s old and tired. I know that the man would like to retire, but there is no one that is willing to take on the pack.” The last statement seemed to be loaded with subtext.

“Thank you, Healer Aldrin. Perhaps it’s time for the bears to return to the Sweetwater pack. They’d certainly be welcomed. I know there are decades of mistrust between us. I’d just like to move forward and put omegas where they belong — at the heart of the pack.”

Something about Blake’s words moved Aldrin and James, and they shared a look between them. “We will speak to the pack.” Aldrin said firmly. “You might be right. If what I think I’ll see when I meet your omegas confirms my thinking, then I will put my recommendation forward for the packs to merge. The two packs have been apart for too long.”

“Thank you, James and Aldrin, for coming. We’re having a pack dinner with the omegas tomorrow night so I can get to know my pack better. I’d love to tell them that a proper healer will attend to them in the future.” I walked the couple to the door, Blake at my side with his arm around me protectively.

“Dinner with the omegas?” James asked with a tilt of his head.

Blake blushed, and I smiled at my flustered mate. “It’s something I started when my cousin took over. He let me take charge of a lot of things, even though I wasn’t of age. I like to have dinner with the omegas at their community house at least once a week. The pups are so fun to spend time with, and we need the time together to have a proper bond.” He was so sweet, and his eyes lit up as he talked about the pups. I thanked The Luna that the healer believed they were in my future because Blake needed his own children to dote on.

James darted forward and hugged Blake, suddenly whispering something in his ear that was too low for me to hear. Blake’s blush deepened, but he returned the hug and thanked the omega.

“Thanks again for coming!” I called as the men walked to their car parked on the street, partially blocking in Axel and Blake’s truck.

I turned to my mate. “Are you going to tell me what he said?”

“Unlikely. How about we watch a movie and hang out a bit? Axel went to grab us some clothes while the Flemmings were here, so we can stay if you’d like.”

“I would like.” I gave Blake a soft smile. “If you can manage another night away from your duties, that is.”

“I’ll call and ask him to bring my laptop if you want. I can do some paperwork here this afternoon and then again in the morning before we head to the compound to see the omegas.”

“Sounds like a plan.”
