“Let’s go.”

Without another word, I walk out with him, to meet Aarvi… my daughter…our daughter. It is just not because I have learnt the truth through the DNA reports that Aarvi is my daughter, but I had always felt a connection with her since the very first time I’d heard her voice as she spoke with Aarav on phone. Poor baby. She definitely doesn't deserve so much stress. I promise myself until she recovers, I am not going to leave her side. The rest can be handled after that.

****************

As soon as we step into Aarav’s bedroom, I see Aarvi in Jaya’s embrace, crying and asking for me while Aman is standing by the bedside, with the same worried expression. They sigh in relief as they see me rushing to the bed. Aarav halts at the door though.

“Aarvi..”

My voice is enough for Aarvi to turn around and the moment she sees me, she cries harder.

“Mommy.”

I scoop her in my arms, sitting on the bed and cuddle her to my heart to ease her sobs.

“Yes baby, Mommy is here. Mommy is here. Stop crying.”

Jaya wipes her tears giving me a thankful smile and then gets down the bed. I can’t thank Jaya and Aman enough for coming here to look after Aarvi in Aarav and my absence.

“Sshhh Baby calm down. I am here now.”

“Why did you leave me again?” Aarvi continues to rant in between her sobs.

“Mommy is sorry. I am sorry baby.”

I keep kissing her face and eyes and hair until she straddles my lap and cuddles me again. Aman and Jaya have left the room but Aarav is still there, standing at the door, watching us with an expression unreadable. There’s even a soft ‘thank you’ kind of a look in his eyes for coming along with him here which I acknowledge and continue to stroke Aarvi who hasn’t stopped crying yet.

The next few hours pass like seconds as I feed Aarvi the soup and then ensure she takes the medicines. She’s as adamant as her father once she decides against something, but I use all my motherly traits to make sure she takes the dose of medicine before resting. Motherly traits? I didn’t know I even had any in me, until I met Aarvi. Whilst Aarav was here all the time, he only left to see off Aman and Jaya some time back when they were leaving. Jaya had left her own daughter Amaya in the care of her Nanny to come here. So, they couldn’t wait for long.

I am putting Aarvi to sleep, lying beside her, when the door opens and Aarav steps inside. He stares down at me, his dark eyes burning with some emotion and I know what’s that. Seeing me on his bed has evoked the long-lost hormones of Aarav Raichand and I’m not very far from feeling the sparks of his proximity. I press my finger on my lips to gesture to him not to make any sound. After a lot of effort, I could finally put Aarvi to sleep. She’s still very weak and needs lots of care and love.

He gives me a nod and then tiptoes to the bed. Only when I think he is going to check on Aarvi, he surprises me by coming to my side of the bed.

“Dinner is ready. You haven’t eaten anything from long. Come,” Aarav whispers.

I’d literally forgotten that I hadn’t eaten and my stomach growls at the mention of food. I glance at Aarvi once who is sleeping peacefully.

“Her Nanny will watch her until we eat,” he adds.

I nod and get down from the bed. With Aarav only ogling at me makes it all the more difficult to face this situation. Now that Aarvi is off to sleep I can finally focus on myself and what I have to do from hereon. I can’t leave until Aarvi regains her health which means I need to check out from the hotel and also bring my stuff from the Villa here.

As soon as we reach the dining room, Aarav serves my plate and I watch him do that, silently. The moment he is about to serve me cabbage, I stop.

“I don’t eat cabbage.”

A frown marred his face.

“You liked it.”

Did I?

“Maybe I am not Jhanvi then.” I shrug.

I meant only to tease. I don’t need any more proof of my real identity. Aarav keeps the plate aside and before I think to continue serving myself, he grabs my arm and turns me to him.

“Your tastes have changed; I see that already. But never say you are not Jhanvi. You and I both know that’s not true.”

I don’t want to get into this conversation right now.
