She could hear his heart beating, it was the most beautiful sound.
“Did I hurt you?” he murmured softly into her hair.
“No,” she said, stroking his chest. “It was perfect.”
“Yes, it was,” he said contentedly. “Now you’d better get some rest, Miss Robbins. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but we’re going to need at least one repeat performance before the kids come home.”
She laughed and nuzzled him, certain that she wouldn’t be getting to sleep after the day’s adventures.
So much had changed.
But when his tail slid up her spine and began stroking lightly between her shoulder blades, she decided to just close her eyes for a minute and enjoy it.
“I love you,” Ra’as murmured as she felt herself drift off.
