“Knock yourself out,” he said, rolling his eyes. “And next time you visit, send a comm first.”

“But, I don’t have your—” she began.

But he had already neatly closed and sealed the door behind her.

Well, he might not want to be bothered again, but she had his blessing for both of the pet projects she had in mind.

And she knew why he was angry now, too.

Ra’as had obviously hired an inventor to do a groundskeeper’s work. If she decided to pick up a little slack in the main garden, it would probably go wholly unnoticed, which was perfect.

She headed back to the house with a spring in her step, ready to talk with Ra’as about a small budget to buy garden things for the children.

If she had to, she could spend her own money, but the cost of the rented gadabout was eating into her savings, and she had been a little too overwhelmed to ask about reimbursement, so she wasn’t sure how quickly that situation would be resolved.

Now it was all in the hands of Ra’as.

Mr. Drayven, she reminded herself.
