He let go of her wrist, and the strange moment was broken.

“I have to take this,” Ra’as said, indicating the holo-call on his desk, without meeting her eye.

“Of course,” she said, feeling flustered. “Thank you again for everything.”

She scrambled out of the room as quickly as she could.

When she reached the hallway, she closed the door carefully behind her and then leaned back against the wall.

She shut her eyes, took a deep breath, and let it out slowly.
