Felix pulled away from me with a laugh. He pressed his forehead against mine. “Gemma, I love you. I didn’t mean to fall in love with you in the Poconos, but I did. I can’t promise I won’t be a dumbass again, but I’ll try my best not to hurt you ever again. You’re my sunshine.”

I gave him another quick kiss. “I can’t believe you did all these paintings and organized this.”

“It was worth it. You’re worth it.”

“How did you know sunflowers are my favorite?” I asked.

“I didn’t. Skye recommended them.”

A smile spread across my face. That girl was so in her brother’s corner, and I loved her already. I cupped Felix’s bearded face. “I can’t promise I won’t be a stubborn, immature asshole again, but I’ll try to be better. Losing you felt like my heart shattered into a million little pieces. And I don’t want to feel that way ever again.”

“I’m in it for the long haul, sweet thing.”

“You’re forgiven,” I said. I leaned up against his ear. “But maybe you need to use your tongue ring on me a couple of times to really make up for it.”

He laughed. “Such a brat.”

My smile went from ear to ear. “Your brat.”

“Damn fucking straight.”

“Thanks for fighting for me.”

“I’ll always fight for you.”

“That’s all I can ask for.”

“Tell me you’re my girl for good.”

I smiled at him, but instead of answering, I wrapped my hands around the back of his neck and pulled him down for another panty-melting kiss. He kissed me back like no one else was watching. Like we couldn’t hear our siblings hollering in the background. We kissed like we were the only two people in the entire world, and I melted into the embrace of the man I loved.
