Holy shit, Nolan had feelings!
“You good?” I asked my sister.
She nodded and handed me back the moonstone necklace, but I shook my head and pushed it back into her hand. “Keep it.”
I made that necklace a while ago, but I wasn’t sure when to give it to her. The universe gave me the sign today when she was freaking out.
We stayed visiting, watching my dad rock the baby, until she wailed uncontrollably.
“All right, get out!” Nolan said to all of us.
Avery and I laughed together, and I hugged her goodbye.
“Thanks for being here,” she said and squeezed my hand.
“Of course. I can’t wait to spoil Norah rotten.”
She smiled at me. “Love ya, sis.”
“Love ya, too. I’m so happy for you.”
Tears pricked her eyes. “I never thought I’d get everything I ever wanted with Nolan.”
I wiped her tears away. “The big guy loves you something fierce. Never ever forget that.”
She nodded and watched as Nolan rocked the baby, trying to calm her down.
As I was leaving, I glanced at Avery and Nolan one last time. I’d never seen either of them look happier before. I had to tamp down the jealousy boiling to the surface. I hoped one day I could find my person like my sister had. If only Felix Jameson hadn’t cursed me.
