“I want you inside of me,” I panted against his mouth, but he didn’t stop pumping into me.

“I want you to come first,” he said, curling his fingers to hit just the right spot. I shook my head.

“The only thing I want to come around right now is your cock, Matthew. So get inside me right now, or so help me God—”

He grinned, but pushed his jeans and briefs down his legs, finally exposing himself to me. And then his fingers were gone, and I could only mourn the loss for a second, because a moment later he was positioned at my entrance, tip just begging to press inside of me, and I gasped when he slid all the way in with one slow thrust.

“Matthew,” I groaned, “move, please.”

“Uh-uh. I want to make sweet love to my girlfriend on our first day in our house.” He slid out slowly and kissed me. “Our bed.” He plunged back in, deliciously slow but filling me completely. “Just like this, for the rest of our lives.” He kissed me again, and I bit his bottom lip as he gave me another slow thrust.

“I love—” I whined as he slid out again, “when we make love, babe, but right now, I really just need you to fuck me.” I peppered his face with sloppy kisses before breathing heavily against his ear. “Hard and fast, my love.”

“Oh, little fox,” he muttered as he increased the pace, making me cry out. “You want it rough, huh? Want me to stir up your insides with my cock?”

“Yes! Please, please.” He gave a few more rough thrusts, eliciting a string of breathless noises that I knew would be his undoing, before he pressed his thumb against my clit, rubbing in circles, which would undoubtedly be my undoing.

“Are you close?” He grunted against my ear, and I nodded as he pressed down deeper.

“Yes, oh, God, yes, please—” A few more thrusts, and my cries echoed around the room as I reached my climax. I could feel it pulse through every inch of my body, pulsing around Matthew, too. He was still nestled deep inside of me when I came down from my high, and I knew my orgasm would set off his. Sure enough, I felt him stilling moments later, and he kissed me deeply as he finally came inside me.

“I love you so much, Noelle,” he murmured as he collapsed on top of me without pulling out.

“I love you, Matthew,” I breathed, intertwining our fingers as we just laid like that—joined together, neither one of us wanting to move or lose this closeness with the other. “I’m so happy,” I added because I wanted him to know it. And I was happy—to be here, happy and in love, with the man who meant more to me than anything else in this world. And here, in our bed, where we would spend every night side by side together.

Through every challenge, every obstacle, this man had shown me what it meant to love someone with no limits, no expectations, or requirements. He taught me what it meant for someone to love me for me, to be there through every moment and never walk away, even when things got tough.

It turned out, I had always believed in love—I had just forgotten what it was like to have someone make you feel worthy of their love. But at the end of my story was a happily-ever-after, my perfect guy waiting for me, a cup of coffee and a book in hand. He had gently but stubbornly knocked my walls down and helped me heal the wounds in my heart, taught me with his words and actions how much he loved me. There was nothing on this earth I would have traded for him.

“Me too,” he murmured into my hair as he kissed my forehead.

This grumpy professor had turned out to be the love of my life. There was not one single moment of my last semester of grad school that I would have changed. Because now I knew what it was like to live in the pages of a romance novel, and it felt so good.

And speaking of romance novels—mine was sitting on my new desk. Somehow, in the process of letting in love again, the story had poured out of me. I had slaved over it for what felt like months, but now it was done. Officially.

Looking back at Matthew, I couldn’t help the giant smile that spread over my face. I had everything I had ever wanted and more. Friends who had turned into family. A man who loved me more than anything. A job I was passionate about. Dreams for the future.

And I could see it all in my head. Our lives expanding, growing, and continuing to be full of so much happiness and love together. I didn’t know what exactly would happen, but I knew that we were going to write our story next.

Who knows? Maybe it would be the next best seller.
