Flirt. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’m slower than you think.

You’ll be fine, trust me.

Strangely enough, I think I do.

Good. There’s a break before the next message comes through. I’m really looking forward to it.

I hesitate before replying. Me too.

Putting the phone down, I reach over and pet Norm. He’s so deeply asleep he doesn't even stretch.

My stomach growls and reminds me I need to eat. I go downstairs and grab easy snacks before flipping on another movie.

Before I know it, it’s pitch black out, and Norm’s looking for his dinner.

I take out the pre-cooked chicken and break off a few pieces to add to his dry food. I can’t seem to stop spoiling him, but the vet had said the extra protein might help him gain some weight.

Satisfied that Norm’s taken care of, I head to bed, curling up under my comforter. As I drift to sleep, I hear him playing with one of his bell toys. His feet make a pleasant pattering on the wooden floors, and the intermittent sound of the bell lulls me fully to sleep.
