She giggles, batting her eyelashes. “Well, how can I resist a handsome young lad like yourself? Of course I’ll allow it.” She places her hand in mine and slides out of my vehicle. Her dress rides up her thighs and immediately, I flashback to this morning. Her beautifully tanned, naked skin on display as I barged through her open bedroom door, holding her phone. I couldn’t pull my eyes away from her as they roved from head to toe and back again before she was able to grab the towel and cover herself. No matter how much I told myself to look away, I was completely spellbound by her.

As her scent wafts through my nose, I pull my thoughts from her naked body. I’m trying so hard to fight it, but damn, my dick is so hard it hurts.

As we fall in step beside one another, my gaze moves over Irelynn’s petite form beside me, her face lifted toward the sun, gaze scanning the blue sky, joy lighting up her face.

An involuntary smile crosses my face, knowing she feels relaxed and safe beside me.

As we walk up the steps of the bookstore, I move ahead of her, holding the door. Her face lights up and she smiles, thanking me. As she steps through the entrance, I grab her hand, stopping her.

“You should always choose a man who opens doors for you. If he doesn’t, he’s not good enough for you.” My voice lowers as I stare at her intently. “You deserve a gentleman who treats you well, Irelynn.” My fingers slowly loosen their grip on her, but I’m unable to look away from her chocolate eyes.

She doesn’t move. Her gaze is locked on mine as a small smile pulls her lips up. “Wise words.” She gives an almost imperceptible nod, then walks inside.

I can’t help the grin that forms as I watch her, shoulders back, head high with confidence. She should always look this confident.

As I follow behind her in the bookstore, she attracts attention, particularly from the male patrons in this store. They immediately stop what they are doing and focus on her.

Jealousy surges through my veins, my muscles taut. I can’t stand them looking at her, even though they turn away when I glower at them.

And though I scold myself repeatedly, my fingers move to hers, entwining with them.

She looks down at our clasped fingers, then up at me, surprise on her face. Lifting one shoulder, guilt in my gut as I lie to her. “There’s a lot of people here. And I just… feel better…” I gesture to our interlocked hands with my other one.

Her face brightens as she says, “It’s fine. I’ve got you.” She turns, pulling me with her, heading to the Criminal Justice textbook section.

That’s what worries me,I can’t help thinking.

As she helps me find my books, our fingers remain locked together. I pile the textbooks in my other arm.

“Do you think we should grab a basket?” She looks at the stack of books. “How many more do you need?”

Twisting my phone toward my face awkwardly, she lets go of my hand, trying to see my schedule.

“Well, I need Social Psych—”

“Social Psych?” Her eyebrows shoot up. “With Wilkins? Ten o’clock Mondays and Wednesdays?”

“Yeah, why?”

She grins. “No reason.” Turning, she starts to head toward the baskets stacked nearby, but I stop her, grabbing her hand.

Spinning her around, I lower my brows. “There is a reason. Why?” I stare at her, watching her lips twitch, her eyes averted. “Irelynn…” I say in a warning tone, my lips quirking up.

She still refuses to answer.

Oh, it’s on, blondie.Dropping the books on the floor, her face is shocked as her eyes move to the pile of books at my feet to me. Before she has time to react, I begin tickling her sides. She squeals and laughs, trying to pull away, but I have her locked in place.

“I’ll stop if you answer my question.” I’m giving her an out, a way to stop my torment.

She squirms harder, trying to get away. “N-no,” she stammers, overcome by giggles.

“Okay, you asked for it.” I tickle her harder, holding onto her so she doesn’t fall. She is laughing so hard tears flow down her cheeks. We are attracting attention from the other customers, but I don’t stop.

“O-okay, okay,” she chokes out between giggles. “I’ll tell you.”

“Good.” I keep her close, eyebrows raised, waiting for answers.

“I’m in your class. I picked up the textbook for it yesterday.” She gives me a smug grin, eyes twinkling.
