He nodded. “I do too.”

“Dad invited you?”

That was odd. Dad invited Vic to many things, but holidays like this were usually just the two of them.

“Yep.” Then he sat on the bed next to her. He brushed her hair back over her shoulder and cupped her face. “Good morning, Addison.”

She took a deep breath and really looked at him. He looked happy. She had never really seen him with that look in his eyes before. “Good morning, Vic.”

“I have to head over to change and check emails.”

Of course, he did. The man was always working.

“Okay.”

He leaned closer and brushed his mouth over hers. “Last night was exceptional.”

Oh, that sounded bad. Like he was going to kick her to the curb. Her stomach dipped. Why was she so upset? She only agreed to one night. Fine. She didn’t care. Not really. She was an independent woman who didn’t need a man to make her feel complete so screw him.

He shook his head. “Your mind exhausts me.”

“What?” she asked, frowning.

“I can see you trying to work things out in your head. Here is what I want before I touch you again. It is the only thing I require.” He handed her a piece of paper. She recognized the flowered stationery as her own “Don’t decide now. Think about it.”

Then he kissed her forehead.

“You’re not going to see my reaction.”

He chuckled as he stood. “I’m pretty sure what you’re going to say right off. I’d rather see you after you had time to think about it.”

He slipped out of her room, barely making a sound. Addy knew she should run after him, demanding that he stay there. For some reason, getting out of bed seemed like too much to do. He had turned her brain to mush with sex. She heard the front door open and shut. Within a few seconds, his car started up.

With a sigh, she looked down at the paper in her hand. Did she want to even know what he wanted? Maybe she should just ignore it and let it go. It wasn’t like she needed this every day.

But she thought back to the way he made her feel. She wasn’t the most experienced woman, but she wasn’t a virgin. She also knew his lifestyle didn’t allow for a lot of surprises. He liked sex one way…although he had been beyond sweet and loving. She had never had a man treat her as if she were the only thing in the world that mattered. Every time he had touched her, she’d felt a connection. Not just sexual, either.

And that scared her more. Needing him on a level other than just sexual was freaking her out a bit.

She sighed again and opened the piece of paper. Blinking, she looked at the dominant handwriting. There were only three words on the paper. No signature, no please. Just the thing he needed from her before he would touch her again.

Your Total Submission.

ChapterFour

“Dammit,” Addy said beneath her breath after smacking her toe against the tub. She wasn’t a woman who swore easily, but today was a day for it. In fact, she felt she had the right.

As she dried off from her shower, she could not get the words he had written on the note out of her head.

“Your complete submission.”

Irritation dripped from every word she uttered. She wore the feeling like a cloak. The man had some nerve, thinking she would just give in to his demands.

She was running late, and that was something her father would never accept. He had never been late for anything. Ever.

She used her hand to wipe the condensation off her bathroom mirror. It was best just to push Vic out of her mind. Last night was a one-night kind of thing. A celebration of the year to come.

She paused as soon as she got a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her skin was flush. It had little to do with the shower and more with the man who had spent his night in her bed. She glanced at her breasts and felt her face heat. There were reddened spots across her skin from his beard. Lord, the man had scrambled her brain.
