CHAPTER6

There are times in your life when you regret all those past mistakes…all those past relationships, because maybe, just maybe, they lost you the chance to be with the one you were meant to be with. -Nash

Nash

I waitwith bated breath for her answer. My heart pounds with anxiety because I know her answer could mean the difference between me having the chance of a lifetime or never getting to be with this amazing woman. I would take back all my past relationships just to have one chance with her.

She glances down at her strappy, black heels and my heart plunges. If she’s decided not to take a chance on me, I’ll deal with it. I’ll wait another decade for her to change her mind. That’s how important she is to me, especially now that I know she feels something for me.

She lifts her head up and sends me a shaky smile. “Let’s take a chance, Nash. I want to be yours, in every way.”

Inside I give a whoop and feel like doing a dorky victory dance. On the outside, I don’t have much restraint either. I pull her to me and lift her up so that we are nose to nose. “You’ll never regret this,” I promise, and my lips meet hers.

The kiss goes on and on. I try to put every emotion I have into this one kiss: our first kiss as a couple. We pull apart, breathing hard.

I lean my forehead against hers. “I think we should take this back to my place.” I pull back and smile when I see her eyes are still closed.

“Unless you want to wait. We can wait if you want to.” I’m aching but I’ve waited over a decade. I can wait as long as it takes.

She opens her eyes and shakes her head vehemently. “Are you kidding?” She socks me lightly in the arm. “If you don’t take me to your place right now, I’m going to have lady blue balls and you don’t want to see that. That kiss…” she sighs. “That kiss was something else. Let’s go now. I think Josh will understand.” Her mischievous smile assures me that she’s probably going to tell him all about tonight.

I take her hand in mine and give her another light kiss on the lips. “Here’s another one just so you don’t get too ornery on the way home.”

She throws back her head and laughs as we walk out of the bathroom door hand in hand. There’s a long line of women waiting for the bathroom. Their faces change from frustrated to fascinated within the span of a second.

“Girl, now I know what was taking you so long in there,” the woman at the front of the line says. She giggles and opens the bathroom door. She peeks in and then turns back to us. “Oh, darn there aren’t any men in there for me.” The rest of the line laughs as we walk by them. Damn if the tips of my ears aren’t pink. When I glance over at Alex, she has a broad grin on her face. She gives a little wave to the rest of the ladies, and I groan.

“I can’t take you anywhere, can I?” I growl and reach down to pinch her butt.

She leans close to my ear and whispers, “You can take me right to your bedroom.”
