“And none of your brothers are in the business, right? Donna said Tate produces wine, and Travis had an app. And Sam is a doctor.”

“I’m the only one with the architectural bug, yes. Tyler plays hockey, and Declan is a lawyer.”

He was so proud of his brothers. I could see it in his body language.

“Did you submit your application for the competition yet?” he asked.

“No, I’ll do it today. By the way, I think it’s great that I’ll have dedicated time slots to work on it.”

“It’s a demanding competition, but winning it is worth it. It opens a lot of doors.”

“I can just imagine my aunt’s face if I win. She’d be so thrilled.”

“And your parents?”

“Sadly, my parents passed away when I was seven years old. Aunt Dana raised me, and it would mean a lot to her if I won the competition.”

He opened his mouth but closed it again. Clearing his throat, he said, “Come on, let’s get back to work.”

Leading me out of the room, he put a hand on my arm. Heat sizzled through me instantly, even through my suit jacket and blouse. I exhaled sharply, and Luke swallowed hard. His eyes were downright fiery. Even his nostrils flared.

Klaus’s words popped up at the back of my mind.“He does this for everyone.Don't get your knickers in a twist.”I doubted he got in this possessive state for just anyone. But I was sure that working side by side was going to get easier with time. Besides, I was certain I wouldn’t see much of Luke. He was the CEO. He was probably busy doing other things, not instructing an intern. But judging by the dangerous glint in his eyes, it didn’t matter how much time we spent together. We were still treading a fine line.
