“What about you? Why so gloomy?”

I huffed. “Roy.”

Just mentioning my ex-mentor wiped the smile off her face. “Leave him alone, and you’ll feel better.”

“Why do you hate him so much?” I didn’t have the energy to argue with her.

“I don’t hate him. I don’t trust him. He’s a coldblooded killer who doesn’t care about anyone.”

“He loved Lukas, from what I heard.”

“Yes, he loved him so much he killed him.” She leaned closer. “He was the one who brought Lukas’s broken body here. After that, he dumped it in a grave and didn’t shed a tear. Coldblooded snake, that’s what he is.”

“He’s good at keeping his emotions bottled inside him. I’m sure he suffered more than you think.”

“Or he’s simply a coldblooded snake. He didn’t even attend the funeral, and every time Lukas’s name was mentioned, he growled.” She waved the piece of paper. “If we can have babies, he’d be the last beast I’d like to become a father.”

That was the question. He’d be a protective, caring father. It didn’t make any sense that he wasn’t a protective, caring brother.
