Claire gripped the wheel so hard that the leather creaked.
“No. She’s not.”
“But she’s a lesbian too, isn’t she?” A massive, hot surge of
jealousy shot through Haley. It was probably showing on her
face. She could hear it in her tone.
“Yes.”
“But you don’t…with her?”
Claire’s head whipped around and she pinned Haley with a
hot stare. Her eyes flashed; the golden flecks illuminated
beautifully. “No. I do not.”
“So then I was an extra special mistake.”
Claire turned back to the road. “I’m going to call the piano
tuners when I get home. It should be ready by tomorrow.
Occupy yourself with that. I have a gym in the house. Work
out your frustrations there. Swim if you’re crazy enough to do
it. Snake will be out there watching. Have your obnoxious
friends over. Do what you have to do to keep busy. The time
passes faster that way.”
