Giana’s fingertips brushed once more over the silky skin,

hating herself. She hated that she still felt the lingering

aftershocks of whoever she’d been with this woman. She’d

been something larger than herself. Something outside herself.

It was still all tangled up inside her. There was something in

her that refused to hate this girl, no matter what she’d done.

No matter what siren pull she’d exerted and used to her

advantage.

She banished that nonsense and brushed one more wisp of

dark hair away from that satiny shoulder, then she shook the

stranger in her bed awake. Her eyes, summer blue even in the

mostly dark room, flew open in terror and confusion, but when

she saw Giana, she calmed a little. Until she realized. And it

only took a second.

“I remembered everything,” Giana said evenly. Stiffly. Not

a shout like she wanted. No righteous anger like she’d

planned. “Who are you really and why are you here?”

Chapter 11

Coralyn

Oh no. Oh God, no.

This wasn’t how she’d wanted Giana to find out. She’d had

ample opportunity to tell her the truth, but she hadn’t. There

wasn’t any excuse for it, no matter what she was going

through. She’d allowed Giana to believe,

to slip a ring on her

finger, to get close enough to her to momentarily temper her

grief with her gentle hands in the shower. She’d allowed her to

sleep beside her, mere inches away in a bed that was too big.
