Coralyn turned and brushed her palm over Giana’s frozen

cheek, her heart swelling so hard that it melted through the

frigid weather. “I think that we’re perfectly matched, even

though we’re so different.”

“That’s what everyone says works out the best.”

They’d been living together for six months. Giana sold her

huge, sprawling house and they’d moved into an old Victorian

style, three story, gingerbread deal that wasn’t Giana’s style at

all. Coralyn had been so stunned when she suggested it.

They’d had to do massive amounts of renovations, but it came

in handy, having a girlfriend who owned a real estate

development company and working there too. They both knew

people and the renovations had been done in a matter of

months.

They were no longer living in a dusty disaster zone, and

while those months had been hard, they’d been so rewarding.

They’d done what they could together, another thing that

surprised Coralyn. Giana was real good with a brush and

roller, and she was also pretty handy with tools and wood and

drywall. Her bossiness paid off, because she coordinated all

the jobs that had to be done, all the trades that had to come in,

and done all the ordering like a pro. And she’d even let

Coralyn do the budgeting and expensing, even though they

didn’t have a set budget. Giana had said it would cost what it

cost, and she wasn’t sparing any expense at turning the house

into something magazine worthy on the inside. Now, the house

was all character on the outside, and a mix of ultra-modern

and super classic on the inside.
