and no one should think they were owed it.

Yet, she could change Emily’s life. She had the power to do

that right now with her decision. She was holding the power of

someone else’s happiness in her hands. Emily was young. She

was good. She was truly wonderful. She was maybe a tad

spoiled and naïve, but at heart, she was incredible. She’d

inspired Dani. Made her forget all about her previous losses

and hurts. Emily’s aura was so magnetic that it made Dani

believe anything was possible. That was a true, rare gift, and

even if it had only lasted for Dani for a few days, it was more

kindness than she’d known in the past eighteen years of her

life combined.

She could sacrifice for herself. She could hurt herself. She

could make herself believe she didn’t deserve good things

because life was just shit and hard and it happened to lots of

people that way. It wasn’t out to get her, and she wasn’t

anything special, but she couldn’t do that to Emily. She

couldn’t steal Emily’s laughter, her wonderful smiles, her

golden glow, or wreck her future.

Radcliffe was right about that. Dead right. If she cared about

Emily at all, she’d do this for her because it was the right thing

to do.

“Alright,” she whispered, her voice cracking and finally

breaking. She didn’t stick out her hand. She whirled around,

blinking furiously, and headed straight to the counter. “But I

won’t do a single thing until I have an iron clad contract.”

Radcliffe nodded. “Tomorrow morning you’ll have several

buildings listed in an email. I have a listing agent who can take

you to see the ones you like. We’ll deal with the paperwork
