Dani couldn’t believe she’d just gotten officially married. As

in, for real. She’d gone through all the vows, the usual love

and cherish crap, said the I do’s, which meant less than

nothing, and just grazed Emily’s soft cheek with the most

chaste kiss in existence.

She was pulling back, her lips tingling because Emily’s

cheek was unbelievably soft and very sweet. Peach fresh like

the rest of her. She was wearing perfume that matched,

something that smelled like vanilla and apricots. Dani pulled

back sharply, her gaze falling to her left finger which now

sported a ring that looked like it came from the jewelry section

of a big department store. So, Emily hadn’t splurged on the

rings for the fake marriage. Big surprise.

Dani had, because she wanted to thwart Emily, worn black

to the courthouse. She didn’t know the two girls standing off

to the left, big smiles on their pretty faces. They looked very

much like Emily did. Like they came from good homes with

parents who cherished them, who planned on giving them the

world before they were even born. Dani wasn’t sure if they

knew the wedding was fake, but she was guessing they did,

because if they knew Emily at all, they would have to know

that she couldn’t meet someone overnight and get married to

them the next day. They wore gauzy, flowing dresses, both in

shades of purple. They’d taken time with their hair, one

auburn, the other blonde, curling the long strands into wavy

tresses. Dani very much wanted to call them spoiled bimbos

but didn’t because it was her wedding day and special

occasions called for a level of charitable thoughts.

Dani’s dress looked more like it should have been worn to a

nightclub. The black dress wasn’t elegant. It was ripped near
