sweetness and sugar and sunshine. Dani had no idea how

Emily would hold up while talking to her parents.

I’m not concerned. I’m not worried for her. I’m not anxious.

It was just that the sooner Emily fixed her problems, the

sooner Dani got to move on with her own life. Which meant

figuring out getting a new place or how she was going to come

up with double the rent money in six months’ time. Six

months seemed like an eternity, but she knew how quickly it

could go. If she had to find another building, the search itself

would eat up a lot of time, never mind getting it ready and

moving. Plus, if the building didn’t have a living space, she’d

have to find somewhere to go, and that would be adding an

extra cost.

Dani didn’t want to go there. She had enough to worry

about for the moment. She’d start her search for a new

building later. Maybe she could find a house and convert it.

Everything cost money, though. Maybe she could get a loan.

She’d had her business for a while. But she wasn’t going to

hold her breath for it.

Emily’s problems seemed paltry in comparison. First world

things. She knew that was just her being an asshole, but she

kind of felt like slapping the label back on. She shouldn’t be

worrying about Emily when she had her own plate of

problems overflowing.

“Good luck with your parents tonight.”

“Thanks.” Emily zipped up her purse and smiled even

wider. “Thank you again for this. I know it’s not ideal.”

“You’re paying me, so you don’t have to thank me.”
