“Save me or ruin me?” Cassia couldn’t believe she’d just

said that. There wasn’t anything mean or sinister about

Adalynn. She seemed like a good person. It was something

about the way she was looking at her, her eyes such a dark

gray that they weren’t blue or black or purple, but some color

beyond all of them. “Or possess me?”

Adalynn studied her hard and Cassia felt herself drowning

in those dark eyes, falling into them like they were a midnight

sea beckoning her with its cool waters after a scorching day.

Cassia swallowed thickly. Her fingers edged around the tiny

bottle of wine she hadn’t touched, holding onto it, curling into

the glass until her knuckles turned white. She finally dared to

look up again, straight at Adalynn’s lush, inviting lips.

Adalynn was the kind of person that made even looking into

the night seem bright, like there was a full moon out, bathing

the world in silver, a light that made it impossible to hide. A

moon that captivated with a pull so strong one couldn’t help

but be lured into its beams, to want to dance and live.

“Will you kiss me now?” Cassia didn’t know what she’d do

if she’d missed her chance. If that moonlight was ripped away

from her and she was no longer allowed to luxuriate in it.

Adalynn’s lips curled softly at the corners. That smile made

Adalynn’s already beautiful face so breathtaking that it was all

Cassia could do to suck in a breath. The atmosphere shifted,

the desire curling through the room like the pungent aroma of

freshly brewed coffee, sharp and invigorating. Adalynn stood

slowly, every muscle in her body shifting and humming below

her clothing. When she reached out, Cassia stood on legs that
