“I never really try to hide them.”
“That’s what I admire about you. You’re always just so… you.” Kiera
brushed a strand of Romi’s hair behind her ear. Romi shivered in response.
“I know that you tell me all the time that you respect and admire me, but I
want you to know that I respect you too. And I definitely admire your
courage and your openness. I think you’re one of those rare people who is
truly kind. You seem so fearless.”
“I’m definitely not that.”
“No, you are. I know you don’t see yourself that way, but you’ve inspired
me and helped me so much. I really will talk to my family this weekend. I
promise. I’ll call you after.” Kiera threaded her fingers through Romi’s.
“And I also promise that no matter what happens, I’m not going to change
my mind about us. I might just need a little bit more patience if I’m moody
or upset. I know I’m always asking for time, and I’m sorry for that.”
“Don’t be sorry.” Romi leaned in and placed a kiss on Kiera’s forehead.
“Of course I’ll be here. No matter what happens. I really do know how hard
this can be. I’ve been there myself. And I know it’s probably not a great
thing to say, and I don’t want you to take it the wrong way, but no matter
what happens, my family will always be there for you too. They’re like that.
My brother’s fiancé was a member of our family right from the first time he
brought her to meet my parents.”
