shop had a few difficult customers who were, unfortunately, repeat clients,
as well as the generally difficult vendors who were slightly crusty around
the edges. Maybe if Romi took that on, she’d see that you needed a tougher
skin to thrive. She’d find that other jobs were easier.
At least, Kiera could always hope. So far, her luck had been shit, but

Chapter 4
Romi
If there was a crustier, more miserable, grouchier person in all of
Cincinnati, Romi thought she’d be hard pressed to find him or her after
she’d spent all of five minutes with Wade. The guy stormed into the store
like a pissed off hurricane and did nothing but stomp around. He was
grouchy about having to deal with her, and not Kiera or Wynn like he
normally did. Wynn just smiled and made himself scarce while Romi had to
take Wade up to the third floor, where his vendor area was.
“Not selling much lately,” Wade grumbled. “Stuff’s top quality and
prices are low as dirt already. After the commission, I’m hardly making a
dime. Hardly worth my time.” He grumbled and coughed low in his throat
while he stalked the area like a feral racoon.

striped t-shirt, black faded jeans, and a barrel chest with a rather corpulent
middle, Wade did indeed look racoon like. At least his body. His face
looked more like a puckered-up lemon had a baby with an extremely pissed
off rat. Wade had a big face, but had tiny features that didn’t seem to
actually fit. His face was unfortunately rat like and his current scowl wasn’t
helping. He wasn’t a tall man. He was a good deal shorter than Romi, which
didn’t help his cause.
