“I did hear about someone dying from a heart attack during whoopee

once.”

“Ha! Wouldn’t that be the way to go! Although, I wouldn’t want to be the

other party in that. It would be quite shocking.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know there was a difference between a live one and a

dead one. Most of them make whoopee about the same. Ten seconds and

it’s over. How disappointing.”

“If you think that, then you’ve never met the right one. It’s time to get

back into the game.”

“Now? At eighty-eight?”

“What better time?”

“I can suggest a few names for you. Men who really know how to treat a

lady.”

“In bed.”

The chorus of giggles and outright cackles filled up the entire main floor.

Kiera couldn’t help but let out a few soft chuckles herself. Good lord she

was enjoying herself. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d ever heard

such good jokes and the conversation that had just taken place was the

tamest of the entire day.

Things went on like that for another hour before Maryanne started

wrapping up. The guests were encouraged to take samples of tea they’d

like, and a list for orders if they would like to enjoy in larger quantities.

After that, the ladies wandered the store for another half hour while Kiera

stood by on the ready to ring up any purchases. There were actually quite a

few. Romi’s idea about putting out little ornaments and books here and

there was a pretty big hit. While one lady complained that the older books

&nbs

p; didn’t have any of the juicy romance bits that the new ones did—

apparently, she skipped straight to them and proudly read them first—she

bought a few of the classics herself.
