“Ebrax?” I asked, arching a single brow when I turned to look at him.

“Rebecca shipped you two,” he answered simply, shrugging. “It was either that, Braxanna, or Evax. But Braxanna is too much, and Evax sounds like a diarrhea medication.”

Laughter burst from me, unable to be contained, and even the girls by the register joined. “Don’t pay attention to him, he finally lost it.”

“Yeah, that’s what happens when you have too much awesome sex,” Josh added, winking at them and I pushed him away.

“Stop being a pervert, dude!” Turning to the girls while they laughed, I shook my head. “I apologize for that.”

“I hope you haven’t told the story yet, I want to hear it,” Sam yelled, walking through the door with Peter.

My gaze turned to the clock on the wall, but it wasn’t time for their shift yet.

“We came early because weneed to know,” Peter added, and I sighed.

“You guys need a life.”

“We have a life!” Sam complained. “That's the point. You are the one who never had one, and now that you finally get it, you don’t want to tell us what happened!”

“What’s the deal?” One of the girls I was helping asked, overhearing the conversation while I handed her the change and began to prepare their coffees.

“Okay, so there’s this girl,” Josh began, leaning on the counter, and I rolled my eyes again, but I couldn’t help the smile sneaking onto my face. “She is stunning, okay. I’m talking, like, Victoria Secret’s Angel kind of pretty. But she’s still sweet, shy, quirky, and endearing….”

He threw a glance at me as he accentuated the words.

“She clearly liked him and came by the shop like every day, but never got the courage to talk to him. So, they were playing cat and mouse for like two weeks—sexual tension thickening until you could cut it with an axe. And yesterday, they finally spent time together!” He slammed the counter in excitement.

“I lent him my car and he took her somewhere, but he didn’t return until late at night. And now, he doesn’t want to tell us what happened,” Sam added, sitting on one of the stools on the other side of the counter.

The girl’s eyes widened and her friends shared a collective “Awe.”

“Oh my God, how sweet! Okay, now you totally have to tell us. What happened between you two.” she asked, her friends gathering around her on the other side, next to Sam.

Sighing, I turned, handing them their order. Everyone was looking at me expectantly.

“Fine!” I grunted, plunging a hand through my hair. The girls clapped excitedly, taking their first sip of the cold brews. “I just took her to the beach, to hang out.”

“To the beach?” one of the girls asked.

“Yeah, I mean. I wanted to go to a quiet place to talk and get to know her. There was this crazy chemistry between us, so I just wanted to spend time with her.”

“Oh my God, real chemistry is, like, the best thing!” another girl added. “I went out with this guy one time, and I swear that when we touched, it was like pure electricity was running through our veins. Insane. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other the whole date. Needless to say, we made out, like, the entire night.”

“And that is so hard to find too,” her friend agreed.

“Can we let the man speak, please?” Josh chided, and the girls pressed their lips together.

“Sorry, go on.”

The smile returned to my face as memories resurfaced. “It was like that,” I confessed. “But it felt so natural. It was so comfortable being together, almost like we had known each other for years. When we touched, when we held hands, when I held her, it was just on another level. I don’t even have a word for it.”

“And…?” Peter urged.

“We just talked. We talked about… everything. I told her things I’ve never told anyone, and she opened up about what was happening in her life, in her home. About her past… It just felt so easy to share our secrets. It was awesome to experience that with her, you know?”

“Awe, how romantic. Did you guys kiss?”

My smile widened, but instead of answering, I went to the register to help a guy that arrived.
