“We came to see if the princess would join us in the celebration,” Asher answered without pause.

However, Kingston’s gaze jumped between the two of us, not seeming convinced. “What did she say?”

“That she appreciated the invitation but she was too tired.” I added, trying to sound nonchalant.

He pondered it for a moment then nodded. “She had a lot on her plate today.”

“Awe, little Princess Evanna,” Willow, cooed, letting go of the chief to lift her hands in front of her, forming a ball. “She was like this when I met her. Such a pretty baby.” Swaying on her feet, she clung to Kingston again. “I was only a kid then…” she continued reminiscing, with a pout, but her eyes suddenly widened. “I dropped her once. Shh.” She pressed a finger to her mouth, squishing her nose in the process.

“We’ll never tell,” I vowed, trying my best not to laugh after Kingston scowled, promising bloody murder if we made fun of her.

“Come on, Lady Willow. Let’s get you to your room so you can rest.”

Stepping aside, Asher and I let them pass us by, and once they were gone, Asher turned me to face him. “That is the first and last time I lie for you.” He warned.

“I wouldn’t ask you to,” I assured. “Besides, seeing you and Skylar together inspired me. I’m going to talk to Kingston, I already made up my mind. I’m going to tell him about Evie and I.”
