Everyone watched us.

The breath lodged in my throat, praying to anyone who would listen for there to please be a letter for her. Evie had lost so much, one last message from her mother or father would mean the world to her.

Ripping the paper completely revealed a parchment envelope, and both Kingston and I released the breath we’d been holding. “Take it to her,” he ordered, and I had never been so happy to follow his command.

I glanced at Evie, grinning widely at her as I took the letter and stood. When her gaze dropped to my hand, it seemed like her soul returned to her body, and she left Willow’s side, walking to meet me halfway.

“Of course, I w—”

The roar of a thousand beasts resounded around us and the entire mountain shook, making us all stagger on our feet.

I knew that roar.

Azazel.

“Raithian!” Evie gasped at the same time, our heads whirling towards Kingston.

“We are under attack!” he bellowed.
