“Attack!” Asher bellowed and the Sky Legion tore towards us.

Fueled by the chaos unleashed, Tharion roared and lunged against Azazel, plunging his horns into one of the beast’s necks. The crash sent them both into a tumbled fall through the sky, while Azazel’s green fire shot in frantic streams, catching the land and part of the mountains.

Raithian’s staff suddenly let go of Evie, pointing towards the Legion’s Dragons instead. Their eyes flickered green for a split second before rolling back, and they began falling, unconscious, towards the ground…

Taking their riders with them to their deaths.

“I said, enough!” I raged, my form trembling from both fury and fear, struggling to get out of his magical hold.

My brothers’ and sisters’ screams from trying to wake up their rides mixed with Evie’s and Kingston’s shouts while they stayed in the sky, helplessly witnessing the horror—just like Raithian wanted.

“Leave them alone!”

“Only if you come with me,” Raithian calmly answered, pleased by my fear. He’d finally pulled it out of me.

As Islay, Harrison, Penelope, and the others rapidly approached the earth, my decision was made. “Venom, take us away. Go!!”

The chartreuse Dragon shot forwards without hesitation, feeling the desperation that raged in my chest.

With the light receding from the Warlock King’s sphere, he lowered his staff, releasing everyone from his hold, including me. Heart thundering, I whirled around to find the Dragons instantly regaining consciousness. Frantically swerving to avoid the impact, they successfully regained altitude, avoiding their soulmates’ deaths.

My desolate gaze connected with Evie’s and Kingston’s as Venom took us away from them, and Raithian came to stand by my side. Her body rested against her guardian’s chest while he knelt next to her, holding her tightly to him. The chief was clearly shaken by almost seeing her die, and I couldn’t blame him, so was I.

Evanna’s fingers still wrapped around her neck and she struggled to catch her breath, but the anguish that marred her features wasn’t only for what had happened to her and the others. It was for me too.

“I’m sorry…”I sent to her, knowing she would not receive my message like my Dragons could.“I’ll come back to you. I swear.”
