A crooked smile stretched my lips the next morning when Evie took it upon herself to dress me in my warrior suit. The still damp strands of her hair brushed against my chest while she pulled up my pants, sending chills straight to my groin once I remembered the bath we had just taken together.

Her hands pushed into the back of my pants, squeezing my ass with longing. Evie glanced up at me, a mischievous smile curving her lips, and I narrowed my eyes at her.

“If your hands go where I think you want them to go, I assure you, we are never getting out of this room,” I warned.

She chuckled, but the naughty glint in her eyes only increased and her hands made their way to the front. Slowly wrapping her fingers around my shaft, squeezing me.

Fuck, I never thought someone could make me this horny, but this damn woman… Not ten minutes had passed since she came for me in the bathtub—after using me and abusing me—and I already wanted to be inside her again.

“Behave,” I whispered against her mouth, even when I let her stroke me a couple of times before pulling her hands off me and kissing her deeply. For the road…

It took everything in me not to become as hard as a rock.

Tucking me in again, Evie buttoned my pants closed. “When we come back, you are not escaping from me,” she whispered and licked her lips, letting me know exactly what she meant by that. Then pulled me down for another kiss.

I chuckled. Evie was obsessed with tasting me now, not that I was complaining. I was obsessed with tasting her too, and had done so just a few minutes ago, so I totally understood.

With a settling breath, I let her secure my belt and hook the retractable spear before going to the dresser. While she did, my gaze settled on the mirror, my attention falling on my torso and the large scar that spread along my side. A sight I had spent my entire life hiding because of what it represented.

The night my dad burned to death… at the hands of Raithian.

Stepping closer, I examined my reflection, my fingertips tracing the disfigured skin that never truly healed, and in that moment, I realized something.

My burn may never heal, but my soul had.

“Lift your arms,” Evie instructed, bringing a white T-shirt to me, but I placed my hand on hers, stopping her.

“No,” I whispered, shaking my head as a sense of acceptance slowly filtered through my being. My attention returned to the man in the mirror, and he smiled at me. “I don’t need it… I am not hiding anymore.”

A brilliant grin captured Evie’s lips and she kissed me deeply. “I’m glad to hear that.”

The shirt dropped on the bed, and she proceeded to put the arm shield on me, tightening the straps over my bare chest.

When we stepped out of our room, meeting Kingston, Willow, Imogen, and the Elevated Warriors, all eyes went straight to my scar—immediately widening. I couldn’t blame them for staring, it was quite large, and it was the first time they saw it. Strangely, their attention didn’t bother me.

“It happened the night the Warlock King and Azazel found us in the Mirror World, and my dad gave his life to save me and my mother,” I explained to them. “We burned our bodies pretty bad while running through the flames to escape.” Glancing down, I caressed the damaged skin.

The severity of what my parents and I had gone through reached the warriors, sobering them, and I hoped it would help them appreciate my reason for fighting even more.

“Why did you decide to stop covering it?” Willow asked, compassion coloring her features.

“Well, a wise woman once told me my scar was a testimony of something I survived, and that was beautiful.”

Emotion rushed to her eyes after I recited the words she shared with me, and she threw herself at me, hugging me tightly. Grinning, I squeezed her and kissed her head. Willow had no idea how much she had truly helped me. My attention lifted to the chief, my mentor, and my brothers and sisters after Willow released me.

“I now realize this scar is a reminder of the kind of man my father was, and what my parents gave up, not only for me, but for all of you. Let it also serve to remind us all of what we are fighting for, and how important it is for us to succeed.”

The statement visibly strengthened their resolve, and they all nodded.

“So, what is our next step, my prince?” Imogen asked, promise illuminating her eyes.

Evie gave me an encouraging nod when I glanced at her, and I took her hand in mine.

“We are going to finish what my father started,” I vowed. “I’m going to raise an army of Dragons and end this war.”
