Epilogue

AURELIA

SIX WEEKS LATER…

The apartment is impressive. Big windows that overlook the city, a huge balcony that we can put patio furniture on and a master bedroom to die for. I have no idea how Ryan is affording it, but he assures me he can. He got a little grumpy when I suggested I could help with the cost. Apparently, his job is to take care of us both. I wanted to argue, but it’s not a hill I care about dying on.

“What do you think?” he asks.

“I think it’s perfect. There’s so much space.” I’m excited at the prospect of moving into our place. The past six weeks, we’ve been staying with Luke and Sariah, and while I love them both, I want a space that is just ours.

Things have calmed down a lot since Kane took over as head of the family. I don’t get involved in the businesses, but I know the legal side is flourishing. I have a stake in all the businesses, which means I’m very wealthy in my own right. My brothers also gave me a job working at Fraser Holdings. I’m working in one of the marketing departments as an assistant, learning the ropes. I had no idea what I wanted to do for work, but I knew I couldn’t sit home all day while Ryan was out working with my brothers. I needed something to keep me occupied or I’d go crazy.

He wraps his arms around me. “I can’t wait to fuck you in every room.”

“Ryan!” I’m shocked, though turned on by his words.

“Tell me you’re not thinking about it.”

“Well, I am now.”

“Can you two not put each other down for five minutes?” Luke demands, coming out of one of the bedrooms, Sariah on his heels.

“There’s a bidet in the bathroom,” Sariah says.

Considering she grew up in wealth, her statement makes me laugh. “You didn’t have a bidet when you lived with Declan?”

“No. But it’s such a good height to shave your legs.”

“You want a bidet, honey, we’ll get a bidet,” Luke says.

“I want your kid not to be making me crave mash and tomato soup, again,” she mutters, her hand splaying over her baby bump. She’s popped over the past few days, her stomach protruding with my niece or nephew. I never understood the pregnancy glow statement, until Sariah.

Unlike poor Bailey, who has been so sick through this pregnancy. Zeke said she hasn’t been able to keep anything down for days. We’ll visit after we’ve sorted the apartment out, make sure they don’t need anything.

Luke’s hand strays to Sariah’s stomach, cupping her belly. “I’m sorry,” he murmurs, kissing the side of her head.

I glance at Ryan, smiling. “I think this is the one,” I say.

He nods. “I think so too.”

Ryan talks to the estate agent who is waiting outside the front door while I go to Sariah and Luke. “It already feels like home.”

“I hope you’ll both be happy here. You deserve it.”

After Ryan’s done whatever needed to be done, the four of us drive over to Bailey and Zeke’s. When we knock on the door, it’s Zeke who answers. My brother looks a little frazzled as he ushers us inside. Elena and Kane are sitting on the sofa, Bailey is curled on the armchair, a blanket wrapped around her legs. She looks pale, tired, but okay otherwise.

I go to her, pulling free of Ryan’s grasp. “How are you?”

“Exhausted, but your brother’s taking good care of me.”

“Is there a reason we’re all here?” Kane asks.

Elena elbows him in the ribs. “What he means is he’s thrilled to be here with you all.”

Luke smirks. “No, he’s right. We did call you here for a reason.”

Everyone sits. Ryan and I take the floor, me sitting between his legs, my back to his chest.
