But it does, my whole body going stiff before wave after wave of sheer bliss leaves me clutching him, biting his shoulder, screaming. I don’t know what to do with it. It’s so good. I can only hold on with all my might until it starts to subside and my screams turn to weak moans.

“Fuck… I’m going to…” He barely gets me up and off him before coming on the sheets, shaking and grunting while I collapse by his side.

Holy hell. I didn’t think it would be like that. I knew it would be good, but that was ridiculous. I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk—my thighs are burning after that, and my calves. My entire body is weak, limp.

And I want to do it again. I don’t know if it’s the man himself or the way he makes me feel, but I want that again.

He falls onto his side with a groan before rolling onto his stomach. “What’s the license plate of the truck that just ran into me?” he mumbles.

“I was too busy to notice.”

“Yeah, you were.” He turns his face to the side, looking at me, and the almost sheepish, sleepy little smile he’s wearing goes straight to my heart. I’m sure it has to do with endorphins or whatever… but if I didn’t know better, I’d swear I was falling for him.

Which is ridiculous, of course. But right now it feels good. Normal, natural. Like something I couldn’t resist if I wanted to.

“Thank you for that.” I roll onto my stomach, mirroring his position, our mouths almost close enough to touch.

“You don’t have to thank me.”

“But I do. I needed that—I mean,” I giggle when his smile widens, “I needed to forget everything. I needed to… feel good because I wanted to. You don’t know how unusual that is for me.”

His forehead creases for a second. “I’m sorry it is. But you deserve it. You deserve that whenever you want it. I just happen to be the lucky bastard who gets to participate.”

We both groan when his phone buzzes insistently from the nightstand. “At least they managed to wait, whoever they are.” He grumbles his way across the bed, cursing under his breath while I wish the rest of the world would wait a little while.

Until his head snaps around, his eyes locking on mine once he answers the call. “Deanna’s awake.”
