“What are you doing in here, Ace?”

“We sure as hell can’t trust you, temptress. So until you’re back in the cell, one of us will be in here with you every night.”

This has to be some sort of game.

They have me locked in here with nothing to use as a weapon or to get out with, so why would they feel the need to stay with me? It’s not like I can do much when there’s zero opportunities for me to do something crazy.

“That just gives me the opportunity to kill you in your sleep,” I whisper.

He turns his head toward me, opening his eyes, studying me. “You could, but you won’t,” he says with confidence.

He doesn’t know what I’m capable of. I’m starting to think I’m meant for the darkness because it sure is fun toying with possibilities of how I can kill this asshole.

“You don’t know that. I could kill you with your fancy silk sheets, Acey,” I purr.

“I don’t think you meant for that to sound hot, but it did and now my dick is sporting a semi.” My eyes jump down to see if he’s telling the truth and he chuckles.

Shit, Zamira. He’s fucking with you.

“The horny little temptress just can’t help herself.”

“Shut the fuck up. Why couldn’t you have sent Blais in here or Theon? Anyone but your repulsive ass,” I growl.

“The lust in your eyes tells a different story than your mouth. Be careful, they might get you in trouble one day,” Ace teases. “Plus, I wanted the first night with you to break in the bed.” He winks.

That simple gesture sends my pussy into a frenzy. My eyes roam over his Adam’s apple down to his bare torso. I wonder what it’d be like to lick every line of his abs.

Shit, I realize what I’m doing and snap my gaze back up to his.

“I’m not fucking you,” I whisper, my voice coming out in a rasp.

I can’t. It’s one thing to fuck Blais and fantasize about Theon, but with him, I can’t.

Would that be too far over the edge? Would it make me certifiably insane?

“You will if I want you too,” he taunts, running his hand over my sheet-covered hip. I can feel the warmth of his hand through the material and I’m surprisingly wishing the sheet wasn’t there right now.

Jesus. I should be running away after that statement, but I want to stay.

I close my eyes before I lose my shit. Of course he’s an asshole that thinks he’s all high and mighty. He thinks he could use my body, just because he wants to. He would fuck me right now just to play mind games with me.

Been there, done that. I won’t live through that shit again.

“Goodnight, Acehole,” I say, rolling onto my back.

“What were you dreaming about? You were upset.” Ace’s voice is low and soft. Turning my head to look at him, I take in his expression. His eyes are hard and angry like they usually are, but his eyebrows are pulled in, etched with something that looks like worry. But it can’t be. The asshole doesn’t care about anyone but Blais, Theon, and himself. He’s like a fucking robot most times.

“Why do you care?” I look at him, trying to figure out his angle. Ace doesn’t do nice, at least not toward me.

“I want to know,” he commands like he deserves to know what I’m thinking about at all times of the day.

I have no reason not to tell him. He already knows about my ex so there’s nothing left to hide about my personal life; I just hate giving him another piece of ammo to use against me. Knowing he won’t stop pressing until I tell him, I let out a deep groan. “Tommy Brennan. The most painful years of my life.” I give him that, then turn on my left side, facing away from him.

He sighs, but doesn’t say anything.

It’s beenhours since I turned over, pretending like I was going to sleep. I’ve been lying here thinking about the disaster that is my fucking life.
